Reports of transgender actor Elliot Page — formerly Ellen — playing Achilles in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film, The Odyssey, have sparked fierce backlash. “You could have paid me to tank this movie and I wouldn’t have thought of this,” actor Kevin Sorbo reacted.
While Page’s role in Nolan’s retelling of Homer’s The Odyssey — set to debut in theaters on July 17 — has yet to be officially confirmed, the Juno star is known to be in the movie, according to a report by the video gaming and entertainment website IGN.
“The trailer might’ve given away who the actor is playing: Achilles, the tragic hero from The Iliad who Odysseus encounters in the Underworld as a ghost,” the outlet reported.
IGN added that “while this isn’t confirmed yet to be the character Page is playing, it seems like a good bet.”
“If Elliot Page is playing Achilles, this will be the biggest bomb of Christopher Nolan’s career. It’ll be meme’d to death before it ever comes out,” documentary filmmaker Robby Starbuck wrote in a Saturday X post, reacting to the news.
“You can’t go from Brad Pitt as Achilles to a confused woman and expect an audience to take it seriously,” Starbuck added.
Actor Kevin Sorbo, meanwhile, quipped, “You could have paid me to tank this movie and I wouldn’t have thought of this.”

I don’t “ follow” directors really and I’m shocked to see that Nolan actually did some of the movies I really like.

I was actually thinking of watching this movie... Until you pointed this out, then add to that a mentally ill woman playing Achilles and this movie will surely be a major flop.
Now I am not watching it ever.
Could have been a historic movie.
Opportunity thrown away.
They should have given her a pair of Nikes and cast her as Hermes.
And that race baiting open borders supporting loony John leguizamo is part of the cast.
That alone would keep me from seeing it...........

That's exactly how I see it. There's no rationalizing these travesties. They're only doing it because they know this sh*t makes us nuts.

If I remember the story correctly, Achilles is killed in the Iliad. By the time the Odyssey starts, he’s already dead and the only appearance he makes in that book is as a ghost for a few lines. If Nolan follows Homer, who cares who plays his ghost? It’s not like Ellen Page is going to be riding a chariot battling Hector.
Other than “Juno” Page was the lead in the highly revered video game “The Last of Us” (37 million units sold, 51.5 million earned). That was before she mutilated herself.
Another FReeper was saying how he pitched a movie about Al Capone’s nearly unknown brother, who was a straight-up lawman. He said the Hollyweirdos were adamant about getting a gay angle into the story. He just got up and left.
So yes, they ARE putting their evil agenda ahead of profitability.
Well. I’m interested in watching this. But if this is true, it’s a big fat NOPE!

What a waste of beauty. All the pics on Page’s Wikipedia page prior to the 2020 transition are of a beautiful smiling young woman. After that, a dour young-ish man who appears troubled and sorta strange. I fail to see the improvement.
Ellen Page is 5’1”. In Breitbart photo, she has stomach muscles, but nowhere else. Where are her arm muscles? I assume she had that stomach thing implanted to give her that look, which actually looks really fake.
If Page plays Achilles as a ghost, they can make her as tall as they want, and add some muscles.
