Summary: Scientists at the University of Rochester pulled off a remarkable experiment: they transferred a longevity-related gene from the famously long-lived naked mole rat into mice, and the mice ended up healthier and lived longer. The special gene boosts production of a substance called high molecular weight hyaluronic acid, which appears to protect against cancer, reduce inflammation, and support healthier aging. The modified mice showed stronger resistance to tumors, healthier guts, and lower levels of age-related inflammation.

Does the gene make you really fond of cheese?
How much was the patient billed for this stunt?
Hello there is no such thing as longevity gene.
I have evidence.
My great grand father died in his early 50’s
From drinking & eating too much.
My grand father lived to age 97. His diet was simple vegetarian diet. He was not fat.
My father died of heart attack at age 70. He ate too many rich foods.
I am 86 and have ZERO medical issues. I live extremely healthy lifestyle with good diet and daily 27 min treadmill exercise.
Which genes did I inherit?
The good news? You live healthy beyond 200 years.
The bad news? You will look like James Carville.
“ How much was the patient billed for this stunt?”
I don’t think the rodent this was tested on had any money.
“Which genes did inherit!”
Apparently not the one involving reading comprehension.
You missed my main point completely. Which in simple English is,,,, longevity is more dependent on lifestyle than any genes. I plan on doing treadmill video of me doing the treadmill at age 100. It is only 14 years away for me. I am doing the treadmill routine every day for half hour at age 86. No issues with balance, have never fallen down, doing Zumba exercise class twice every week and mowing my suburban size lawn with a push mower. Have outlived my father, brother and all uncles already. All from daily exercise in my opinion.
If I missed your point, who is the “patient” that got billed?
Immaterial. Because genes are very minor and inconsequential parameter to forecast longevity.
Don’t get hung up on childish points and ignore the elephant in the room. If you wish to live to age 86 in athletic shape like me, start a daily aerobic exercise routine. It is a life and death issue.
I’ve just been rubbing that stuff on my face.
