The price didn’t just go up. The product went down.
This is shrinkflation on steroids.
The cost increased. The value didn’t.

Grant here. Shrinkflation is everywhere nowadays. It's actually becoming so common that we seem to just almost be throwing up our hands and accepting it. Well, for the most part.... Because this latest video showing what an absolute rip-off the classic McDonald's sundae has become has people pretty darn heated. Let’s break it down.
A popular X video shows a woman holding her obnoxiously tiny McDonald’s hot fudge sundae. I mean, it's comically small. It looks like something you would give to a four-year-old child, not a grown adult.
And what's worse? It costs $4.
Yeah, $4 for a cup of vanilla soft serve with some crappy "chocolate" sauce on top.

It looks much smaller, they don’t fill it all the way and it no longer comes with a pack of chopped peanuts

DEBRIEFING
Really, at this point, you're better off heading to the store and buying a tub of vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce. Honestly, the quality would be better, and you could probably make like 10 sundaes instead of the measly little plastic cup of dairy goo McDonald's is trying to peddle.
This is shrinkflation on a whole other level, and it's an extreme that makes most of us think, "What's the point?"
What is the point nowadays of going out and getting a meal if this is the type of experience you're going to have?
We've reached the point where everything feels like a rip-off, and the only way we can start to move the needle back to normality is just to flat-out stop supporting businesses that are pushing shrinkflation to this extreme.

No redemption for those who frequent such slop shops as McD’s . I haven’t been to one since 1990 when my tightfisted uncle splurged and took Grandma , my Japanese wife , daughter and I to one in Willimantic , CT . I’ve lived in Japan since 1985 and they say McD here is better than US but I wouldn’t know for sure as I never eat at chain restaurants even in Japan . I support family owned shops exclusively .
It’s all from ChyNah, anyway. Especially that shrimp. The ‘glaze’ is a ‘bug’, not a feature :-)

It’s weird when I make casseroles with my old recipes using Campbell’s Soup. The soup cans then were larger than they are now, so it just doesn’t work out well.
When I’m traveling with someone and we want an ice cream treat we stop at Walmart and get Klondike bars. Six bars for $4.24. Much better than a McDonalds sundae.
Try Sam’s or Costco Snack bar Frozen Yogurts.............
Seems to me that some younger members in certain families don’t understand how inflation is ruining things as they expect more & more from their parents at the same time some things are becoming less & less affordable.
Pitiful part of all this problem is that some older adults don’t even seem to understand it.
If you use their cream of mushroom (or any other thick soup, like cream of chicken or celery) soup and have problems getting it to come out of the can, run it under hot water before opening it, and then punch a hole in the bottom of the can just after you open the top. The soup slides right out.

That reminds me of the Eddie Murphy routine, where his mom makes him a welfare green pepper burger from Wonder Bread, instead of McDonald’s.

I’ll never eat anything “farmed” in China. Especially shrimp that are grown in what is basically sewage water. Same for salmon and other fish.

The last two times I went into a McDonalds restaurant I walked out without buying anything. The kiosk ordering is very deceptive and will run up the bill if not monitored closely.
But what the hell happened to KFC? We rarely eat there. The last time was well before the pandemic. My wife was running late one night last week and picked up some. It was barely edible. The taste, texture, and crispness were all off leading me to infer that they changed to cheaper oil, spices or cooking methods. Never again. RIP KFC.
I am at a point in my life where I respect and will continue to do business with a company that just raises the price rather than shrink or cheapen their product. I would put Chik-fil-A in that category. My wife and I always get the same order every time we go there and the “out the door” total price has increased noticeably, but the product size/quality has not. Good on you Chik-fil-A.
Good for you! Amazing how many people either a) aren’t aware (don’t research anything they eat) or, b) don’t care and ASSume that mother gov’t wouldn’t allow anything harmful to be sold.
They’re being sold a fake bill of *goods*.
I recently saw a vid about scrambled *eggs* that are now being used in MANY restaurants and hotels....yuck! The entire process, including the nasty ingredients being used to make those *scrambled eggs*/omelets, is truly disgusting.
