McDonald’s And Their New Hot-Fudge Scam
Cypher News ^ | March 31, 2026 | Grant Mercer

Posted on 05/07/2026 10:03:29 PM PDT by Red Badger

The price didn’t just go up. The product went down.

This is shrinkflation on steroids.

The cost increased. The value didn’t.

BRIEFING

Grant here. Shrinkflation is everywhere nowadays. It's actually becoming so common that we seem to just almost be throwing up our hands and accepting it. Well, for the most part.... Because this latest video showing what an absolute rip-off the classic McDonald's sundae has become has people pretty darn heated. Let’s break it down.

A popular X video shows a woman holding her obnoxiously tiny McDonald’s hot fudge sundae. I mean, it's comically small. It looks like something you would give to a four-year-old child, not a grown adult.

And what's worse? It costs $4.

Yeah, $4 for a cup of vanilla soft serve with some crappy "chocolate" sauce on top.

SOURCE

The McDonald’s Hot Fudge Sundae used to only cost 99 cents

American shows what it looks like now, and they have resisted the price to $4

It looks much smaller, they don’t fill it all the way and it no longer comes with a pack of chopped peanuts

But it’s now 4x the price…. pic.twitter.com/h4w89HPXHo— Wall Street Apes (@WallStreetApes) March 30, 2026

DEBRIEFING

Really, at this point, you're better off heading to the store and buying a tub of vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce. Honestly, the quality would be better, and you could probably make like 10 sundaes instead of the measly little plastic cup of dairy goo McDonald's is trying to peddle.

This is shrinkflation on a whole other level, and it's an extreme that makes most of us think, "What's the point?"

What is the point nowadays of going out and getting a meal if this is the type of experience you're going to have?

We've reached the point where everything feels like a rip-off, and the only way we can start to move the needle back to normality is just to flat-out stop supporting businesses that are pushing shrinkflation to this extreme.

NOW YOU KNOW

Companies push shrinkflation because they can.

Blaming McDonald’s for the loss of value of the dollar.

Instead of the government.

Fools.

I don’t think Ben & Jerry’s is legally called ice cream. It’s a “frozen dairy dessert”.

Just don’t go thinking that the minimum wage has driven inflation—it has fallen far below that. Low-wage workers have been squeezed incredibly over the last 50 years.

So it’s more like accordioning, not shrinking.

Great analogy. Laundry soap is one of the dirtiest -- it's done to the sizing as well as the concentration -- yet the 'clever' people who do this never come clean.

Much of the grousing, though, is about fast "food" and the poorly-masquerading-as-food garbage in the grocery stores .

Economics. Consumers have been handed a very practical reason to stop eating all of that junk and to take better care of themselves, yet?

They use their app to track you and sell the findings too

If you use their app set the tracking permissions to “do not share location” and see how upset it gets

Would be surprised about that for Ben and Jerry’s. Breyers is at the “frozen dairy desert” level.

My last trip to McDonald’s was free. I ordered on the app. Picked up my order and drove away. Due to staff incompetence the order was never marked as complete on their end and I got an email from McDonald’s an hour later saying my order timed out and was cancelled and I would receive a refund.

On a spiritual level...

If the shrinky ray schemers knew what they were doing, they wouldn’t do that. Making deception their livelihood, they are self-judged (condemned) by the Golden Rule.

Oh, something like this scene:

Said scammer eventually arrives in the next world and receives the keys to his forever home.

Turns out it’s a 6 x 6 x 6 ft box, complete with a few pieces of doll-sized furniture, and all of the walls (and ceiling too) are paneled with mirrors to make it look bigger. Infinite space!

And the problem is what, exactly???

It’s the perfect place to be able to... reflect.

What “hot fudge sundae”? No real fudge, no real ice cream...shouldn’t they just rename it “corn syrup surprise”?

We bought a Hungry Man TV dinner a few days ago, the first one in years. I recollected what we bought years ago had enough food in it to fill a person up. What we had recently was a complete joke. The chicken was so skinny and tough it was hard to eat and there was only two skinny little pieces. The same with the other items in that their quantity had shrunk.

Particularly annoying are potato chips. Buy a large bag and it’s mostly air. Candy bars are less than half the size they were 30 years ago or so and probably 5 times the price.

Before we know it a large bag of potato chips will have only two or three chips and a candy bar will have to be picked up with a tweezers.

I thought that was done by Vanila Fudge?

I never found out; they just kept me hanging on.

Nothin’ worse than a hot fudge scam. Sounds perfect. I’ll try it out today. Had a big-***ed jamocha shake from Arby’s yesterday.

When I worked at McDonalds they were still using rehydrated minced onions on their burgers.

The fedgov continues to spend like the proverbial drunken sailor. The Fed continues to monetize the debt.

So let’s blame evil corporations for inflation/shrinkflation.

The good news - as they downsize, people will be getting healthier by not consuming so many extra calories.
