WASHINGTON — Forget covering protests — some reporters think they should be the ones making the ruckus.
A group of over 250 journalists implored members of the Beltway press corps to “forcefully demonstrate opposition” to President Trump at the ritzy White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday.
Trump, 79, is set to attend the swanky dinner for the first time in his presidency. But the group of 250 reporters is demanding that the White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA) ensure he doesn’t feel welcome.
“We believe the White House Correspondents Association should take stronger action by issuing — from the podium — a forceful defense of freedom of the press and condemnation of those who threaten that freedom, followed by a standing toast to the First Amendment,” the letter to members of the WHCA said.
“Speak forcefully, in front of the man who seeks to undermine our country’s long tradition of an independent, strong, and free press.”
The WHCA, which represents the White House press corps, is organizing the annual dinner and has clashed with Trump repeatedly over the past year.
Early last year, the White House press team began meddling in the pool rotation, in which outlets take turns getting special access to the president to share their notes and footage with everyone else.
Historically, the WHCA has set the pool rotation. Notably, the White House has left the WHCA in charge of determining outlet seat locations in the press briefing room.

the communists/neo-nazis/progressives have infiltrated or taken over in some cases a broad range of organizations (some colleges, press, electronic media, churches, synagogues, scientific societies, the DNC party central machine, unions, etcetera). And, there’s a TON of foreign and domestic “billionaire” type money behind them...
it is quite concerning.
for anyone who may not already be familiar with it, here’s a warning from (perhaps not merely coincidentally?) 1984:

California is trying to outlaw investigative journalism, right? The “Stop Nick Shirley Act”? But Newsom is fine? Trump is the problem?
Their fifth columnist press corps has only deteriorated since.
Forcefully. But mostly peaceful
ABC
He should either show up very late or not at all and say Iranian situation delayed him.
Understood.
Yes, it’s gotten worse
Agreed.
Pssst- they’re not journalists.
Ah, the memories...
And at Bammy pressers, the media sat in silence, never questioned his BS, as if was God.
Independence, strong and free press.... more like:
Incompetent, weak and subjugate press.
They are of the left. I hope SS does it’s finest job before this soiree.
Did one of them sign Walter Cronkite showing how childish they are?
Journalists covering White House dinners and events face strict, evolving rules managed by the White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA) and, recently, the White House Press Office. Coverage often involves a “press pool” (representative journalists) with specific rules for seating, questioning, and access, with recent changes allowing the White House to dictate pool membership.
Key Rules and Coverage Protocols:
Access and Attendance: The White House press team now directly decides which journalists and outlets can join the press pool, a role previously held by the WHCA.
Pool Arrangements: For events like dinners or summits, the White House may limit access to a small, select “pool” of reporters, sometimes restricting it to only photographers or television cameras, excluding print/radio.
Fundraiser Protocols: Fundraisers are usually covered by a “print pool” (or “pencils”), which ensures at least minimal coverage of the President’s formal remarks. (Put in by the Biden administration)
Press Pool Discipline: The administration has historically shown willingness to restrict specific journalists or outlets from covering events based on disagreements with their reporting or branding.
These rules have been in existence since late 2025 while still under the Biden administration. As long as the POTUS wishes them enforced, they are the law defining the privilege of attendance. And the press is aware of them. It’s very obvious the “journalists” as they call themselves are throwing a tantrum because of their actions against honest and fair reporting. If they were fair, they’d probably be receiving an invite providing they can fit under the tent.

Trump should preorder a fire drill and have it timed to coincide with dessert.
