Still trying to get rid of the gophers in my yard.
I read there are scents they don't like, makes 'em leave so I'm making a natural pest repellent spray infused with peppermint to ward off the gophers. I thought I'd put it up here for anyone else with this problem to try. Not expensive, doesn't hurt pets. Hope it works.
Surprisingly this recipe says to mix with distilled water and VODKA!?
They will either leave or hang out at the patio trying to hook up with loose gopher chicks 🦫
If I hear them singing Muskrat Love tonight I'll know it's not working...for me anyway.
This is why there are no gophers in Russia 😆

Bill Murray used small explosives in Caddyshack.
This seems like a tincture. It doesn’t require top-shelf. (I make vanilla extract with the cheapest vodka I can get as long as it’s 80 proof.)
You know, you’re right. I don’t want to be accused of gopher abuse.
And if the gophers won’t leave, add ic and drink until you don’t care.
Ice
Throw in a lemon slice and it’s a mint cooler. Gophers prefer mojitos or mint juleps.
That plan may be on the board 😆
😆
Get a cat that’s an outdoor hunter, or raise one or two to be outdoor cats. Works like a charm.
Or for you.
A couple of shots and the gophers will not matter.
yeah but why would they stay around? It’s a thought, there are plenty of cats at the pound but it gets so hot here in the summer keeping a cat outside would be just awful and I already have an indoor cat that maybe wouldn’t mix well.
Did you try flooding their holes with buckets of water, forcing them out?
The link you provided refers to insects only.......
I have heard of the peppermint trick one other time…
Yeah, if you already have an indoor cat (one you don’t let go out and hunt) the outdoor cat could be an issue.
I used to have a gopher, rat and chipmunk problem, because I feed the birds.
Then a cat adopted me. She comes in and out whenever she wants and always in at night and sleeps on my bed. She goes out early in the morning and pretty much is out all day except she comes in and naps mid morning.
She has killed rats, mice, gophers, moles, young possums, rabbits, countless snakes, lizards, birds, and palmetto bugs.
I don’t have any rodent problems anymore.
The fumes from lit road flares into holes should work. (ADAM 12 show comment).
Better use real vodka made with potatoes instead of that imitation stuff like Grey Goose that’s just watered down grain alcohol. Grey Goose doesn’t even use corn like a good clear moonshine does. Just uses wheat.
My feral cat tends to what to sleep inside during the day, and go out at night for hunting.
