Embattled Rep. Eric Swalwell on Friday night issued a full-throated denial of sexual misconduct and rape allegations leveled against him, calling them “absolutely false” while issuing an apology to his wife.
“These allegations of sexual assault are flat false,” the Democratic candidate for California governor said in a more than minute-long video on social media. “They are absolutely false. They did not happen. They have never happened. And I will fight them with everything I have.”
Swalwell was forced to swat down scathing allegations of sexual misconduct brought by four women this week — including a former staffer who claims he raped her in 2024.
In the video, the dad of three apologized to Brittany Watts, his wife of nine years, saying he’s made “mistakes in judgment in my past.”
“But those mistakes are between me and my wife, and to her I apologize deeply for putting her in this position,” he said.
He then turned his attention to his constituents, apologizing if he had shaken their support for him — while confidently stressing that they “know who I am.”
Swalwell also blasted the timing of the allegations, insisting they came as he remains the “frontrunner” in his gubernatorial race. He also pointed to his courtroom record advocating for victims of sexual assault.
“I do not suggest to you in any way that I’m perfect or that I’m a saint,” he said.
“For over 20 years, I have served the public as a city councilman, as a member of Congress and as a prosecutor who went to court on behalf of victims, particularly on behalf of sexual assault victims. That’s who I am and have always been.”

Hakeem Jeffries slammed for demanding Eric Swalwell drop out of Calif. gov race – but not resign from Congress
I hope he stays in the race. We need the Rats vote spread out as much as possible so the two finalists are both republicans.
Swalwell was pounding the table and yelling for Epstein files to be released, accusing Trump, then he pivots and spends $700k in legal action to prevent the Fang-Fang files from being released.
The hypocrisy among the freshly outraged regarding Epstein needs to be outed and rocked.

Let me get this straight - if a man rapes a woman all he has to do is apologize to his wife for putting her in an uncomfortable position??
What if he robs a bank? Can he apologize to the bimbo he marriedk for that too?

My theory is they asked some RATs to get out of the race so that two Republicans did not come out on top. They turned down the request so they turned up the heat.

Odd that the party threw Swalwell under the bus. He was polling at #3 behind Republicans Chad Bianco and Steve Hilton.
Maybe they're trying to clear the field for Tom Steyer? That means Katie Porter is next to go.
An added bonus is two Republicans on the ticket will depress Democrat turnout, a potential catastrophe for the party in trying to win as many of CA's 52 congressional seats as possible.
China already owns Eric, so it doesn’t make much sense to jettison him. Unless Steyer is also beholden to them???
Fang Fang might give a full throated reply cause we can all guess what position he put her. Actually, using full throated in an article about sexual misconduct is about as good as it gets.
