Roughly 800 teenagers took over a $4.8 million Texas mansion rented on Airbnb – sparking brawls and gunshots that turned the quiet getaway into a chaotic, pop-up frenzy.
Property owner Kishore Karlapudi claimed he was duped by the rowdy youngsters who booked the multi-million dollar home under the guise of a small gathering before advertising the party across social media on Saturday night in Celina, Texas.
“Somebody booked it, saying they needed the property for a party of seven people,” owner Kishore Karlapudi told KDFW.
Karlapudi claimed the teens destroyed furniture and appliances inside the home, moving everything into the garage to make the large, makeshift dance floor.
“We were totally shocked, and they damaged the property, you know. They took all the furniture out from the living space, and they put it in the garage, he said.
“They took all the wall fixtures, everything out. They broke the wall fixture. They broke, the island was broken. The granite countertop was broken because it looks like kids danced on those.”
Videos from inside the home recorded glimpses of the packed gathering reminiscent of a popular nightclub rather than a 5,000 square foot, 4-bedroom single-family unit.
Word of the massive bash spread around on the internet to teens who showed up at the home.
“This incident multiplied in numbers due to a social media post advertising a party, which attracted between 500-800 teens and young adults to the location,” Celina Police Chief John Cullison said in a statement Sunday.

Doesn’t appear to be ‘youths’ in the pictures, but I suspect they were there if shooting started.
I have an Airbnb and future guests are rated from thier previous stays. 4.5 or higher with at least 5 reviews has worked well for me. I wonder if this owner checked reviews and if so, were they legitimate.
Yes, the pictures indicate they were indeed “teens” not “Youths”.
This type of stuff has been going on for years at AirBnBs.
The security deposit will not correct the damage.
As a landlord you are forced to either take them to court. OR just eat it.
Sounds like this is one of the risks of having your property be an Air B and B property.
True enough. The renter is not going to get the security deposit back.
Let me guess: it’s them again, Yogi.
A damn shame, but the owner should have done his homework. I wouldn’t risk a 4.8m mansion without some background checks, references, etc.
Yup, I’m sure. Also, don’t rent your house out on Airbnb. There’s an insurance policy as part of the contract, but IIRC, it doesn’t provide cover if the rental was booked fraudulently, and hence is useless.
In Texas? is he a cattle rancher, from that long line of Texas Karlapudis?

“It warn’t them, Yogi!”
Plenty of middle class or better white kids need their keys taken and a juvie record at least. More pics at source.
Nope. Lots of light reflectivity in pictures of the party goers.
Yes, this is easy to avoid. Red flags are localish renters, wonky payment device, no reviews or rating and no communication. I rent them all the time where I grew up. They are amazingly cheap.
It looks like a mixed bag. I’m guessing English wasn’t the only language being spoken.
Celine Texas is just north of Dallas.

Yeah, that's a thing in the north part of the DFW Metroplex now. This linked article is from last year.
“a party of seven people.”
Seventy times seven.
what ya’ wanna bet that whatever the insurance the owner might carry won’t cover the damage because he failed to declare that the house was a rental ...
“Let me guess: it’s them again, Yogi.”
actually, the pics and videos show otherwise ...
A good example of the new American culture so popular with teens. People who are given everything and own nothing (and like it) have zero respect for anything. Apartments, rental cars, Airbnb, civilization. They destroy it all because it’s not theirs’ and they are not held to account. The ebt card is always full, the section 8 house is always covered, the free food is always provided, the doctor’s office gets paid by someone else. What do they care?
