WASHINGTON, D.C. — In a promising sign that the weeks-long conflict in the Middle East could soon be over, President Donald Trump postponed strikes against Iran until all of its leaders assembled in one place again for a meeting.
Trump posted the announcement to his Truth Social account on Monday morning, revealing that planned strikes on strategic targets would be halted until all of the remaining leaders of the Iranian government gathered again in one room.
"We're holding off until we get them all together again," Trump posted. "We did it before, and it was very successful. It was my idea. I said to the generals, ‘Let's just wait until they all hang out together.' They told me it would never happen, but it did. And we took them all out at once. Now, because I am so gracious and kind, I am ordering the Department of War to postpone all planned strikes until the Iranians get their leaders in one place again. Thank you for your attention to this matter."
According to well-placed sources in Tehran, the Iranians were relieved there would be a break in the bombardment. "We are glad to hear Trump is postponing other strikes," one insider said. "It's a welcome sign that this may all be over soon. We're all going to schedule a meeting at Omar's house to discuss these negotiations with the Americans and see where we go from here."
At publishing time, Pentagon officials were reportedly gathering intelligence on where "Omar's house" is for no specific reason.
