As tensions grow between the United States and Iran over the Strait of Hormuz, the U.S. Air Force has launched A-10 Thunderbolt II attack aircrafts to target boats that are ambushing ships through the essential waterway. During a Pentagon briefing, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dan Caine said, “The A-10 Warthog is now engaged across the southern flank, targeting fast-attack watercraft in the Strait of Hormuz.”

Where would Apaches operate from ?

Good question. If they are Marine Apaches, maybe off Amphibious Assault ships, but even that seems too far away, so, I have no idea.

even A-10s would need to refuel from eu or Diego(don’t think any there)

The U.S. maintains a robust network of air bases across the Middle East, primarily in Qatar, UAE, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan, hosting roughly 40,000–50,000 personnel.

The Navy is staying over 500 miles away.
Even a strike mission would require double refueling..

Yes, and some of the Apache’s were said by the General to be from an unstated other nation

My guess is the UAE, maybe Saudi Arabia.

The straight is only 30 miles wide.

The non Iran side is the UAE. The A-10’s could have come from the UAE.

I have also seen video of an A-10 operating off a carrier

A few A-10’s will keep the Strait of Hormuz straightened out.

"...If they are Marine Apaches,..."

The USMC doesn't have any Apaches.

A similar story: A very rich lady was taking a Mississippi River cruise. The captain had been working on the river for about forty years. She said to the captain “You must know this river very well.” The captain said “Never spent much time on the bottom madam.”

Iran didn’t take out a dam thing. They were too busy getting taken out.

There are far too many small boats moored on the Iran side of Hormuz to confidently target the dangerous ones. Trump and Hegseth should give them 2 days to clear out, then call in the warthogs. The U.S. needs to own the straight.

Because President Trump and PM Netanyahu told you so right?

“Well, someone said this would be over in a week.”

Who? And what difference does it make? You think the efficacy of a military action can be estimated to the day???

Because the MSM would do *anything* to make Trump look bad and they have nothing. And I don’t believe Iran on anything.

"...I have also seen video of an A-10 operating off a carrier..."

Operating how? Typical A-10 take-off roll is 1200 meters but the flight deck on a carrier is only about a thousand feet. You can't launch it with a catapult, it doesn't have a tailhook, and it's not stressed to endure the "pranging" landing that a carrier landing requires.

No, the A-10 Warthog Can’t Fly from an Aircraft Carrier
