Why are the Ceausescu’s wearing different clothing?
Did they get executed twice to make sure they killed em’ really good?
Iran has several Ion Mihai Pacepas who will join the Opposition soon, if they haven’t already.
Remember, this was after the fall of the Berlin Wall and all these govts were crumbling. It had been only days, maybe 2 weeks at the most, prior to this that my lefty friend said to me: I’ll tell who will never fall. The Romanians, because they just have that country in the tightest grip.
Then a short time later, on a major holiday day I walk into the Bodega and see the headlines.
The harder they come, the harder they fall, one and all.
Always good to see communists get what they deserve.
I’m glad he was wearing a hat! Colds can lead to pneumonia you know!
I cant help but prefer ancient methods of “purification by pain”.
I remember reading about the non government rescue of several employees of EDS (Ross Perot) from Iranian captivity during the change of Shah and Ayatollah. “Bull” Simons, the chosen leader, a retired Colonel, made the statement that any turnover in regimes would always begin with the storming of the prison where all protestors were held. When the walls were brought down the citizens would coalesce against the authority. That is how the American employees if EDS were freed and secreted out. I have been thinking that is a sign for the regime change in Iran. It happened before, in 1979. That is how the Ayatollah was brought in from France, and solidified support.
I remember Simon’s saying that all such regime changes in history occur in that way. I don’t know if Romania was or not. I remember the fall of Ceaucesco as it happened. I know a lad that is a Romanian, and he confirms that something similar happened in his country.
I keep watching for news accounts inside of Iran, but can’t find any reliable.

One of the Young Iranians, who had a cross on his neck as a symbol of rebellion, was asked if he had any last requests. The Charges: He was accused of Moharebeh (”Waging War Against God”) for allegedly stabbing two Basij paramilitary members. His trial lasted only a few days, and he was denied a lawyer of his choice.
The Final Will: In a video recorded by state media shortly before his execution, he was asked what he wanted in his will. Blindfolded and with his arm in a cast (likely due to torture), he calmly said:
”I don’t want them to read the Quran or pray. I want them to be happy. I want them to play joyful music.”

By writing the article, the author displayed profound ignorance.
The leaders of Iran are already dead and thus can not be stood against a wall and shot
My wife and I spent a few days in Bucharest two years back. For some reason we were really drawn to the city and nation despite its being somewhat impoverished.
We walked by one side of Ceaușescu‘s immense palace, but had no idea of the destruction of the city’s historic neighborhoods covered in the article. There was one small cobblestone historic district where we enjoyed a nice lunch in the unusually hot summer weather that year.
