The war with Iran kicked off its second week on Saturday after US and Israeli forces launched attacks that took out Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and dozens of senior Iranian officials.
Now the US is expanding air operations.
During a press conference last Wednesday, War Secretary Pete Hegseth said the B-52s would be among the airpower used “controlling the skies, picking targets,” and bringing “death and destruction from the sky all day long.”
“As President Trump said, more and larger waves are coming. We are just getting started. We are accelerating, not decelerating,” he added.
“Now with complete control of the skies, we will be using 500-pound, 1,000-pound, and 2,000-pound GPS and laser-guided precision gravity bombs, of which we have a nearly unlimited stockpile.”
General Dan Caine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, further told reporters that US forces will now “expand inland, striking progressively deeper into Iranian territory and creating additional freedom of maneuver for US forces.”

Do we know if the IRGC barracks and ammo dumps have been hit? I think we want popular uprisings, but the people may be reluctant to rise up while the IRGC is still intact. Of course, I’m sure the US isn’t saying everything they could about what they have and have not hit.
I imagine they aren’t coming out until the bombing stops. Easy to understand that.
I was hoping the Kurds would move in and force the IRGC to come and and meet them. Then we would have them out in the open. But I guess the plan changed and the Kurds are hanging back for now.
What defense contractor makes all these munitions?
The reason I ask there is a salesman somewhere(probably many salesman)getting a bunch of replacement orders from the Defense department.
I am a straight commission trader. So, a bunch of salesmen are going to be having a really good quarter based on reorders.
As much as WE think the Kurds deserve it based on the way they have helped us since the second Gulf War it may not be the best for long term peace in the region. Currently, the Kurdish region in Iraq operates as a separate autonomous region. Maybe the same thing could happen in northern Iran/Persia. We don't want a war between the Kurds and Turkey.
I wonder if either we or the Israelis have any sort of special forces on the ground in Iran?
bringing “death and destruction from the sky all day long.”
Enjoy, mullahs!
You richly earned it.
Mossad has a vast network of spies.
Persians hate the mullahs, and stick their necks out every day to aid in their destruction.
But what we need next is a revolution by Persians.
My poor man’s strategy is this:
Persians know where the IRGC and Basij live. They need to surround their houses, burn them out, chase them down the street and beat them to death with sticks.
This would actually work. Several Persians will die for each IRGC member. And the Freedom is totally worth it.
Go Persia!
When was the last time we have extensive bombing of a nation by B-52s, basically carpet-bombing specific areas.
What do we get next week?
Maybe, C130s with MOABs and Massive Ordinance Penetrators.
Got to make sure we really took out those Enrichment facilities.
I'm leery about the Kurds because I'm afraid they would be long revenge and short on creating a representative government.
Kinda on the subject, the B-52 is an incredible aircraft. That they are still, after 60 years, in service and are still the ‘go to’ bomber for certain types of missions is hard to believe. I once lived near a SAC base, and they flew roughly six feet (it seemed) over my house on a daily basis. Noisy, gigantic masterpieces of aeronautics and military might.
I was wondering why they’re using RAF Fairford instead of one of bases run by the U.S., like RAF Mildenhall.
Maybe this will help answer your question. 👇
I’m guessing we won’t need to carpet bomb using laser-guided precision gravity bombs.
My uneducated guess would be the bases are more strategically located.
