Ted Cruz for SCOTUS
February 24, 2026 | Whatever Works

If a position on the Supreme Court should open up, I propose Ted Cruz as the next Supreme Court justice.

It's a lifetime appointment. We need him there.

IMHO.

Meh. He will sell out like the rest.

He would be phenomenal.

He won five cases before the Supreme Court on behalf of Texas.

Including a case defeating the Bush administration refusing to allow an illegal immigrant to be executed in Texas for murder.

Fine. Appoint Hunt to fill his seat but only if he drops out of the senate primary.

The confirmation hearings would be very good election year material.

He’s 55. Should be good for a couple decades.

Since our government is run by lawyers and judges, he should absolutely take the chance if given.

He and the Republicans will never get any meaningful reforms passed so better to be the back stop to slap down the legalized warfare against the American people.

Ted C is certainly capable of doing the gig... and doing it well. But I think he still entertains fantasies (delusions?) of the White House.

Ted should serve out the remainder of his Senate term. Abbott might replace him with a RINO.

He was born in Canada. He can’t be president.

If he really wa ts to have lasting meaningful impact on the US then being on the Court is the way to do it. Of course it’s not as “look at me” ego satisfying as being Prez.

As much as I despise Tedlim Freeptards and their TDS psychosis and their revenge obsession on FreeRepublic for the beatdown we gave Ted in 2016...

Tedlims chronically shitting up the sidebar, flooding our site with dead legacy MSM hit pieces that perpetually lede with a pantload of TDS...

Cruz would still be the most reliable placement for Alito, staking out ground between Alito and Thomas.

The only other suitable replacement for Alito is United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit Justice Justin Reed Walker.

‘Sell out’ for what and in what way?

I never wanted him for President, but I don’t doubt his Conservative principles and think he’d be very good on the Court.

I wouldn’t put it past him to take advantage of the current chaos (soon to be confirmed by the SCOTUS) and run anyway.

He’s in it for himself.

He thinks he can. But it’s moot.. as his personality is unelectable.

Not as long as he’s a Senator...And he says he doesn’t want to be a judge...he likes what he’s doing.

He ran in the 2016 primaries. There was no controlling legal authority to stop him.

This issue of natural born citizenship is frequently discussed on Free Republic. And there is no Freeper consensus on the subject. People weigh in with their opinions on both sides. A thread about a year ago had over 400 replies, with no consensus as to what natural born citizenship means.

I’ll go on a limb and say that Mamdani can never run for president. Other cases such as Cruz and Marco Rubio are not so clear cut.

Cruz will never be elected President.

He might be a good choice for the Supreme Court. The youngest current Justice, Barrett, is 54 as of last month. KBJ is 55.

If Clarence Thomas were to retire, Trump would be under pressure to replace him with another black justice. I don't doubt that he could find a good conservative black lawyer for the position...but that would exclude Cruz from consideration. I like Thomas staying on the court...unless he winds up being replaced by a Democrat pick.
