Egg prices have plummeted. That’s great news for consumers — and a crisis for farmers.
CNN ^ | 2/20 | By Vanessa Yurkevich

The cost of eggs for consumers is 34% lower than last year, according to January’s consumer price index. But for farmers, they have too many eggs selling at rock bottom prices.

Most of the eggs sold come from 2 major producers.

Why did I start singing in my mind, “Always look on the gloomy side of life...”

The economy is improving, which is why it’s terrible for the economy.

There is a "faction" of elites that take that as gospel...have to keep the little "pee-pole" dazed and confused.

Quit messing around with the market. Let the market work it out. Egg producers at the margin will drop out, supply will decrease and prices will increase. At some point, equilibrium will be established, perhaps at a higher price that currently seen, but lower than that of a year ago. If it’s too high for you, don’t buy them. If you think it’s “too low”, eat a few more omelettes. The important thing is to let the farmers make the decisions and see where prices land after the dust settles.

Best way is to have dirt cheap fuel and electricity.

Fuel prices affect all things from farm, to processing, to preservation and transportation.

When Ronald Reagan took office, they started the Reagan inflation on CBS. Dan Rather wold breathlessly report the increase every week. Well, soon inflation started going down and after a couple of months they stopped reporting inflation. Reagan spoke up and said he knew he had inflation was under control when CBS Stopped reporting the Reagan inflation index.

There was a big lag time between the slaughtering of millions of laying hens under Brandon back to full egg production once again.

But, I have my own laying hens, so this was no problem for me.

If you’re not sure where your food comes from, or how to cook from scratch, or how to bake bread, or grow a garden and put up your own fruits and veggies, now is the time to learn to do so.

Well, DECADES ago was the time to do so, but today is the next best time. ;)

No matter what happens someone is going to cry and whine and today those people have CNN to give them an over sized megaphone.

As my Statistics teacher told me, if you get a one hundred percent on anything you did something wrong. There are people who would vote against a sunny day and the laughter of small children. There are others who would be in favor of the sun going nova in the next five minutes. That is just the way people are.

Some people think they are going to make a killing on a market that has an artificially reduced supply. By the time they have everything set up the artificial constraint is gone and the market has returned to normal. All the stuff they paid top dollar for is now making middle or even slightly below returns.

Same thing is going to happen in a few years with beef.

Wait til beef prices come down; their hair will really be on fire then!

Unfortunately the beef industry has a shortage of cattle. It will take at least 2 more years before the herds get large enough to make prices come down.

The whole “price of eggs” is stupid. They fluctuate mostly because of bird flu.
Price of milk makes more sense.

Our kids sell eggs for $12 a dozen from over 150 free range chickens.

People come early to buy because they Always sell out.

Cnn didn’t interview us.
