The Doomsday Clock, which has been ticking down to the end of the world for decades, is now officially closer to annihilation than ever before.
On Tuesday, scientists with the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists moved the symbolic clock four seconds forward to 85 seconds to midnight.
It's also the closest the clock has ever been to midnight in its 79-year history, meaning experts believe humanity has never faced a more dire threat of a world-ending catastrophe than it does in 2026.
The group, which decides where the hands are set annually, cited multiple threats to global stability, including nuclear weapons, climate change, disruptive technologies like AI, and the creation of synthetic biological substances called 'mirror life.'

The clock is ticking, but not to a finish, rather a new beginning.
Nonsense. Donald Trump has actually reduced the situation, not increased it. They are basing this on their bais aganst Trump, in my opinion. If anyone is raising it, it is the constant lying coming from the press & others, ins politics, who are also biased against Trump.

They have moved it backwards in the past. It is a silly clock. Heck, it is missing hours 1 through 8. A Judy Clock is more convincing.
Please, spare me. This clock is propaganda created by political activist "scientists" who wanted publicity and to feel relevant to the national political conversation. They have no f-ing idea how close we are to nuclear or any other WMD annihilation. But they do know that Trump is president so, like lap dogs, they dutifully make it seem like our "crazy" president is pushing us to mass destruction.
We don’t have as many Scientists as in the past. Many of them converted to Political Science.

Luckily, I died in Joe Biden’s winter of severe illness and death for not getting vaccinated, after being severely wounded due to net neutrality so I don’t have to worry about this.
You ever notice how the “Doomsday Clock” only advances when conservative values are put into practice.
It always moves forward when a Republican is in office.

The last two times the clock went backwards, from my quick search was in 2010 And 1993. I don’t have the time or patience to really dig into it.
