PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WMBB) – A Panama City woman was arrested on Monday after she allegedly poisoned her roommate’s spaghetti with a cleaning solution.
According to court documents, Carolyn Marie Chalfant, 63, added bleach or peroxide to the leftover spaghetti that was set out for the victim.
This was allegedly after the victim’s wife and children finished eating.
Panama City Police reported that once the victim returned home, Chalfant turned on the stove to reheat the spaghetti, and after the victim made himself a bowl.
It was reported that the victim realized it tasted odd after he ate about four bites. His wife then tasted the spaghetti and told him not to eat anymore because it smelled like bleach.
Officers said that after inspecting the bottom of the pan, they noticed it no longer had the color of the spaghetti sauce.
Officers also reported that earlier in the day, the victim noticed two bottles of peroxide on the counter near the kitchen.
Chalfant was arrested for poisoning food, water, or medicine with the intent to kill or injure.
