Well the only reason I can think of as to why Maduro is being tried by the DOJ is that he’s spilled all the goods on Smart matic and how the 2020 election was stolen and who the players were. Likely he’ll be a witness.
There’s a lot of talk that these phone calls with Trump was Maduro negotiating his way to being extracted from Caracas to avoid being taken off the chessboard by other actors that hold more power than Maduro. Hes probably more of a puppet than we know.

Maduro was taken on a DOJ warrant for particular federal crimes. He is not now or ever was considered to be an enemy combatant. If I have read the events correctly while Delta made entry into Maduro’s fortress it was DOJ officers who took him and is wife into custody. I give plaudits to Trump. He’s trying to do this right.
