Russia has more armored vehicles now than in 2022. The math is ugly.

The Russian military has more armored vehicles than it did on the eve of Russia's wider war on Ukraine in February 2022. And for one main reason.

Despite losing as many as 16,100 vehicles in action in Ukraine, the Russians have more than compensated for these losses by pulling nearly 13,000 old vehicles out of long-term storage—and complementing these older vehicles with around 4,000 brand-new vehicles.

I don’t believe this, unless you substitute China for the word Russia in the headline.

Well, the title is partially right. The math is ugly. I’ll bet the author also thinks that slowing the growth rate of government equals making it smaller. By the presented math the Russians have had a net loss of approx 12000 AFV,, not an increase. Sure they pulled 13000 out of storage. Those vehicles already existed; they don’t represent a net increase. Also ,massive glossing over of the operational worth of these vehicles, many of which are early model T-62s and BMPs. They’ve started pulling some T-55s if what you hear is to be believed.

I’m not dismissing the West’s inexplicable decision the not increase production of AFVs in the face of Russian and Chinese aggression. Maybe it’s a shift in doctrine, what with the rise of drones and all. It’s all above my pay grade. I’d be more interested in knowing those comparable numbers in the drone arena, than having an article with dubious math flopped in front of me which is closer to a propaganda piece than actual journalism .

The article points out that Russia is “replacing” its lost vehicles with very old “restromods” very few new ones.
Russia can’t protect its internal production and infrastructure.

I suppose one could claim that attacking with golf carts, motorcycles and meat waves is winning, bet soldiers would disagree

Looks like some of the production is in Poland. Not sure where the serious metal work is happening.

Poland is the only sizable Euro country taking the Russian seriously.

Almost all armored vehicles are recycled after being battle damaged. Even the total losses are used for gunnery training then melted down.

The article is an outright lie.

Continuous satellite surveillance keeps a close count on the dwindling supply of all Russian military vehicles.

The Russian military is down to sending very old Soviet era equipment to the fronts.

Russia has ramped up Drone production, and improved Drone capabilities as required by battlefield developments (ie. Drones controlled by a fibre wire)

Many desirable weapons [artillery shells, drones] are cheap enough that the US, EU and Ukraine could buy them COD.

Ukrainians were some of the most corrupt people when they were part of the USSR. After independence, they remained so and continue to be corrupt to this day.

They used to make movies in the 80’s with Ukrainians as the bad guys for this very reason.

Most people in the US and on FR think that this war has showed that Russia is a paper tiger.

I say, it shows the same or worse for NATO and Europe. Yes it has weakened Russia but Europe and the US are in serious decline because all of the money and weapons sent to Ukraine that have not been replaced.

The ‘intelligence services’ are stating an 8:1 ratio of Russian to Ukraine losses. Pro Russian people on this board have stated Ukraine losses in the 500k to 1
Million. That makes Russian losses 4-8 million. I doubt all those figures except the 8:1 ratio, as attackers usually have astronomically higher losses than defenders in ‘trench’ warfare.

Historically speaking, the Russians have not blinked in war to millions in losses, so I doubt that they would be upset about 4-8 million in losses by Putin now. You have to admit, it is Vlad the Invaders war, since he has invaded twice. So I am not ‘outing’ anything, just stating the obvious.

Myself, I still think it’s a stupid war with stupid prizes that should have never happened. If the west and George Soros had left Ukraine alone, and Putin wasn’t always invading his neighbors, there would be many more live ‘little people’. I hope it ends soon.
