An infant has died from whooping cough in Kentucky, the third such instance in the past 12 months, state health officials said Monday.
The infant and their mother were not vaccinated against the illness, officials from the Kentucky Department for Public Health (KDPH) noted in a release.
In June, KDPH officials said two infants in the state had died from the disease, also known as pertussis, in the prior six months, the first such instances in Kentucky since 2018. The infants and their mothers were not vaccinated against the disease.
As of Nov. 19, health officials have confirmed 566 cases of whooping cough in Kentucky this year, with babies younger than 1 at the greatest risk. Last year, there were 543 such cases in the state, the highest amount since 2012.
Dr. Steven Stack, the secretary of Kentucky’s Cabinet for Health and Family Services, said in the Monday release he is “concerned” by the volume of whooping cough cases throughout the state.
“We continue to urge Kentuckians to get their whooping cough vaccine and to make sure they are up to date on all other recommended immunizations,” Stack added. “Many illnesses can be prevented through vaccination, which helps protect not only the individual but also those around them.”
The Hill has reached out to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for comment.
State health officials noted that the most effective way to prevent the disease is by receiving the Tdap or DTaP vaccine, which protect against diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis. Infants can receive the DTaP vaccine beginning at 2 months old, while the Tdap shot is recommended for women during pregnancy to protect their baby.
Infants should be immunized again at 4 months, 6 months, and 12 to 15 months. Children should be vaccinated before starting kindergarten and between the ages of 11 and 12 years old, while teens and adults should be immunized at least every 10 years — or sooner, due to an injury or to protect a newborn.
However, as of the 2024-25 school year, 86 percent of kindergartners and 85 percent of seventh graders are up to date on their whooping cough vaccines, despite immunization being required for Kentucky school children.
Early symptoms of whooping cough, which spreads from person to person, typically include a runny or stuffy nose, low-grade fever and a mild, occasional cough, according to the CDC.
More than 2 in 3 babies younger than a year old who are treated for whooping cough in the hospital experience apnea, or life-threatening pauses in breathing. More than 1 in 5 experience pneumonia, 1 in 50 experience convulsions and 1 in 150 experience encephalopathy, a group of brain diseases, the CDC reports.
There is a world of difference between old tried and true vaccines and experimental ones. Incidents like this are used by the vax bros to push dozens of vaccines of unproven efficacy on the general public.
Whooping cough is not a trivial disease.
My son got it when he was around 15teen (Apparently the vaccine does not work 100%!).
It takes about 8 weeks to heal, the cough is pretty strong and each cough attack is followed by vomiting.
It really takes tool on every person who gets it, and it is deadly for infants!
Before vaccination, it was one of those “pass for adulthood” diseases. Very contagious, but luckily, most people are vaccinated, so it has hard for it to spread!

I once came across a pediatricians discussion forum, wish I could find the page…anyway some were willing to distinguish which shots on the vaccine list were absolute life or death musts, and which were less so.
I call BS... more than likely the COVID vaccine killed their immune system. Vaccines have never undergone double blind placebo trials and the entire medical industry is set up to profit off sick people especially sick children. People who are paid to say otherwise will come up and call anyone who uses their own brain cooks... for money and they will do it on this platform... these are the same folks who ignore rigged elections and the evil and destruction of the US that is underway because we are a country ran by a bunch of riggers.
I blame the CDC and how they blew up any trust the public had in them when it comes to vaccine recommendations.
And I blame the Brandon administration for allowing unfettered illegal immigration, letting untold numbers of unvaccinated people into our country. Heck, the moms and babies in this article could be illegals!!
None are. Hence why it is important for everyone who can be vaccinated do so...this eliminates hosts for it to spread to.
This kind of stuff making a comeback is a combination of anti-vaxx militants and the uncontrolled borders.

I guess not...it has already travelled through time multiple times, so why not mind control to cause people not to get a vaccine for something else? Every medical procedure had plusses and minuses.
Until the we have Nuremberg trials the only reason to go to the Doctor is for broken bones and stitches... The entire medical industry has gone rogue... and most of the young Doctors can’t even think... so sad. But just like our elections the medical industry is rigged to get people sick and take their money.
I had whooping cough around age 10 in India. My mother was amazing with natural remedies. She made me drink soup made from some special grass. I still remember the bad taste. But the whooping cough was gone quickly.
this is what happens as a result of untested vaccines being pushed. People trust nothing after you lie to them and ram it down their throat.
These infants died because of their governor’s criminal negligence — Little Andy should be brought up on charges in the International Criminal Court, taken into protective custody, and shipped to Scheveningen prison in The Hague.
