A team of independent researchers is claiming to have found Atlantis.
The research centers around stone structures on Spain's Salmedina Island, off Chipiona in the Gulf of Cádiz, west of the Strait of Gibraltar.
The ruins are spread across roughly 11.6 square miles of offshore seafloor and adjacent coastline, with some walls measuring 23 feet high and 6.5 feet thick.

It would seem crazy to believe that the Pacific islands were inhabited 40k years ago by seafaring hunter gatherers but the mid-Atlantic ridge was NOT inhabited 15K years ago.
Disneyland and Disneyworld could both sink right now as far as I’m concerned. It ain’t what it used to be.
Eye of the Sahara!
Right, it doesn’t make much sense. If the ridge was above water someone would’ve gotten there. There is evidence that there were humans in North America 30k years ago.
Did some reading and discovered that these islands are a part of the Mid Atlantic Ridge: Azores, Ascension, St. Helena, and Tristan da Cunha.
Yes
Atlantis was an allegory. Never existed, pure fiction. Everybody “researching” it is either a fool or a scam artist. Might as well look for R’lyeh.
I don’t recall it being in Goodfellas.
I just remember Pesci saying “Oh n-”.
It was the scene where they beat up Billy Batts.
Left and returned to Rota several times. Must have cruised right over them.
Now I’m gonna have to go watch it again.
Quite possibly some truth, some fiction. New findings with modern technology uncovering many ancient buildings, structures, temples, etc., are happening more and more frequently. There could very well be an ancient place that sunk thousands of years ago that was advanced for the time, just as well Plato’s story could be pure fiction. Neither one has been proven. Yet.
Anyone still named Plato?
Never heard of anyone named Plato, but I have heard much stranger names, like “X”, or “Moonunit” or “Dweezil” and others.
It could be more than that because of eustasy/isostasy.
The earth isnt solid. Its just solid on the very surface and we are too small to be able to tell otherwise but the earth has various layers becoming far more liquid the further travel toward the center.
Just as on a waterbed additional weight creates pressure down in some areas which means the water moves elsewhere. Mountains across the surface are like a body pushing down in one spot. In a similar way the ice caps dont just remove water and therefor weight from the ocean, it also adds more weight and therefor pressure to the poles.
Like a pea being smashed between your fingers, the distance between the poles will begin to diminish as the sides bulge out due to the weight of the caps.
So its not just a matter of the water moving elsewhere bringing the water level down, its a matter of pressure moving from one place to another causing land that was previously under pressure to now rise.
smh
It figures. I brought up Google Earth first to look at the sea floor profile, and the island does not exist there.
Web search: Bupkis. I just didn’t have any more time to expend on it this morning.
Yeah, this was having the smell of the sea floor complex off of Cuba.
I just hate this clickbait crap. If a scientist makes a discovery, write a paper before leaking BS tidbits to the press.
Atlantis is in the Pegasus galaxy.
Everyone knows this...
Except me.
