I don’t know how to perform such calculations.

So now Einstein’s Relativity is HOLY?

I was trying to ‘splain this to a buddy who wanted to know why a rocket going 25,000 mph took three days to travel the ~238,000 miles to the moon.

Gravity (grabity) goes on for ever. We speak of being in “zero gravity” but no such place exists. If earth were the only heavenly body in the universe, and we launched a rocket going 10x the speed of light, and it flew a billion billion years before it ran out of fuel, eventually it still would fall back to earth. So the concept of ‘escape velocity’ is only valid if there are other bodies for the rocket to crash into before it returns to the originating planet.

Regarding the vlogger’s statement that there is no such thing as conservation of energy, this goes to a common mistake among shooters and gun guys. They think muzzle (kinetic) energy is deterministic in how lethal a particular cartridge is, when energy doesn’t move anything. Force does, and knowing KE you can determine the maximum force a projectile COULD apply, but not how much it WILL apply, because unlike momentum energy IS NOT conserved except in perfectly elastic collisions, which only can occur when the two colliding bodies are THE ONLY objects IN THE UNIVERSE. So conservation of energy only exists in theoretical form.

So, to shooters, KE/ME is essentially of no practical use, but we’re fixated on it because of successful advertising beginning with Roy Weatherby (and a lack of science understanding).

Shooters also habitually misapply Newton’s second law because they fail to comprehend the distinction between energy and force, and Newton’s laws of motion were speaking to force, not energy ... but that’s an argument for another thread.

They showed that energy was conserved, but only in a completely empty universe.

In the 1990s, precise measurements of supernovae · revealed that not only was the universe expanding, but that expansion was speeding up. This means over large timescales, our universe is not symmetric in time. It was very different 13 billion years ago, and it'll be different billions of years from now. Since we don't have time symmetry, that also means energy, as we usually think of it, They showed that energy was conserved, 2:03 · but only in a completely empty universe. isn't conserved.

Interesting... Will AI create an 'empty universe' for a computer to function within?
