Enjoy those rigorous debates on FB while you can cause one of these times when there’s an outage the interweb won’t come back on, your phone won’t work your radio will only provide static and your tv will only get one program and that won’t be the Price is Right.

Well, that's all that matters. :-)

Outlook Mail, Teams, Office365/Microsoft365, lots of other services, have been unavailable for hours.

You know, the little stuff....

This internet outage wiped me out financially by removing millions of dollars from my bank account.

Again.

It seems like whether it works for you depends on where you are, what local ISP you have, and how/where they connect to the internet backbones. I’ve been lucky with Spectrum in Upstate NY so far.

Feels like large parts of the internet have been crashing lately for various and unconnected reasons. I’m sure it’s all coincidental.

Auric Goldfinger:

  1. Once is happenstance.
  2. Twice is coincidence.
  3. Three times is enemy action.
  4. More than that is just the internet....

Thanks. I use Bing with Safari, and I haven’t been able to log in. It just hangs there. Tried on Firefox, same thing. I did a search on Bing asking if it was down. It said yes. I then used an “Is It Down” site. It said no reports of Bing being down. Yeah, okay.

Xi: Before we begin negotiation how has your Internet been working lately Mr. President?

It would be a shame if all your Tech Infrastructure went south if you don’t agree to the trade terms we want.

The internet is heavily built on central repositories, everybody loves putting the load somewhere else. Unplug one thing and lots of stuff dies. I remember when Google Analytics (the service used to decide how much advertisers have to pay sites) crashed, the internet was basically dead. Commercialization has basically broken the entire model the internet was built on. It used to be all about redundancy and no single point of failure. Now we’ve got half a dozen non-redundant single points of failure.

A misconfiguration

Never a shortage of incompetence in the world.

Every action has a reaction

Wait, what? "TV"?? What's that?

You mean Hulu? Roku? Netflix?

Oh, "broadcast" TV, like in the old days.

Nah, nobody has that any more.
