Let’s put the events of the last 72 hours into context.
On Monday and Tuesday, Russian oil refineries in NATO countries Hungary and Romania suddenly, and simultaneously, have mysterious explosions and catastrophic fires {citation}}. On Wednesday, NATO head Mark Rutte comes to visit President Trump in the White House, and at the end of the day, the same Russian company, Lukoil, whose refinery exploded in Romania, suddenly becomes sanctioned by the U.S. Treasury. These events are not disconnected.
President Trump then disputes a Wall Street Journal report, further saying he did not give approval, nor does he know where NATO long-range missiles are coming from that were launched from Ukraine into Russia.

President Trump saying, “wherever they may come from,” is alarming in itself. We all know that British PM Starmer, French President Macron, German Chancellor Merz and NATO Secretary Mark Rutte are all in alignment to push NATO into a direct conflict with Russia using the non-NATO state of Ukraine to do it.

Putin’s nuclear threats won’t scare anyone. Russia will not commit suicide for Putin. The generals will not pull that trigger for him.
Your analogy is off base. With Napoleon and Hitler Russia was defending and the stakes were its existential existence. People faced with national annihilation fight more fiercely than otherwise.
Now Russia is the aggressor, not the defender and Ukraine now fights as Russia did against Napoleon and Hitler.
Any European nation hit by a Russian nuclear weapon would mean Moscow would be wiped out. Putin knows it and will not risk it. He’s making his stupid nuclear threats thinking Ukraines friends will back off, because he knows he cannot succeed with conventional weapons, but beyond conventional weapons is suicide.

Whether Napoleon or the Nazis, Russia was always able to rely on Winter to shore up its defenses.
Modern wars aren’t fought that way. See Russia, Ukraine, Iran, Israel, etc., for current examples.
You have an interesting question, especially when many of the NATO member armies are woke. Do any of them even have well trained ground combat forces, aside from the UK?

My concern is how much China will help support Putin. After all China would love to bloody America’s nose. China could supply a very large military force and maybe draft North Korea into the effort.

Look at Putin’s statements since 2000 about reviving the Russian Empire. That is what pushed the Baltic states to desperately join NATO in 2004. And his invasion of Georgia in 2008 was proof.
Putin has been assimilating Belarus into the Russian federation with the Union state and his stooge Lukashenko banning the Belarussian language in Belarus in favour of Russian.

You’re right that the character of the wars — especially the genocidal ideology and scale of civilian atrocities — was radically different. But structurally, WWII was the direct result of WWI’s unresolved crises: Versailles, economic collapse, territorial grievances. Historians like A.J.P. Taylor call 1914–45 the ‘Second Thirty Years’ War’ for that reason. So it’s not ‘the same war,’ but it’s not two unrelated ones either — more like one long crisis with a 20-year truce.
Unresolved issues from ww2 did cause ww2 with the same combatants. Though yes the first was imperial/dynastic driven and the second was ideological.
But I would argue the 30 years war also changed during its course, starting off as religious but soon devolving into a Hapsburgs vs Bourbons vs Sweden contest.

A two front war, such as in Europe and the Pacific would be murderous, which is what would happen if China got into the picture. A major European war would keep all the Euro-weanies busy just trying to save their own asses. Any allies they might have in the Pacific would be toast with China in the war, and I’m talking about Australia and New Zealand.
It would eventually go nuclear.
Had Harris, the mindless wonder, been able to steal the election, WWIII would have been inevitable, for the war mongers would be in charge like they were with Biden. Harris would not have gone nuclear, she would have made a deal so she could still be a puppet leader with the Chinese/Russians. They would have accepted the deal, for she would know no different.
