Online courtroom footage captured the moment Charlie Kirk's alleged assassin Tyler Robinson showed a flash of emotion as prosecutors officially filed to seek the death penalty.
Robinson, 22, looked at the floor and appeared dazed as he sat in court virtually from the Utah County Jail in Spanish Fork, Utah, on Tuesday.
'Is there any other business that we need to address today, counsel?' the judge asked.
The prosecutor responded: 'Just for the court's information, we did file just recently in the last few minutes the notice of intent to seek the death penalty.'
They added that the motion was filed by Utah County Attorney Jeff Gray, and notofied the judge that the document 'should now be on the court's file.'
A clip of Robinson reacting to the news that he could be put to death if convicted of Kirk's murder swept social media and received millions of views.
Many X users remarked on Robinson's distant demeanor, with one commenting: 'His soul has already left the building. Totally empty inside.'
Another said they could see Robinson take a 'big gulp' as he faced the music, and another said: 'No remorse, no regret, no emotions.'
At Robinson's first court hearing on Tuesday, prosecutors filed a protective order preventing him from contacting or attempting to harass Erika Kirk, Charlie Kirk's wife.
He spoke only once, to confirm his identity and sat stoically as the judge read the seven counts he faces - including the capital murder charge that could see him executed by firing squad.

Well, when that happens we can all have a big hardy laugh.
Well his GF or whatever it is I bet Will distance him/her from him.
Releasing him to the general population might speed things up a bit or...solitary so he goes even more insane.
That’s a good one!
I believe the relative quickness of that execution was because it was a Fed building giving them jurisdiction. A firing squad would be nice but a guillotine on national TV with all networks and live-streaming would be preferred.
No...that was a different case...the Unabomber...Kaczynski
If the fallout from this seriously damages the left they might turn on him if they have some self awareness. Big if I know.
The day this monster is executed I will organize the biggest party my town has ever seen.
Based on the texts that have been released it seems like the shooter thought he might actually get away with the killing. Maybe he is in shock that he will actually be held accountable for the murder.

We can now add the boyfriends of "transgender individuals."
Good point.
I don’t know which I think would be worse for him and his sicko-phants; his death or life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. I believe a quickly applied death sentence would dampen the willingness of potential copycats.
Reminds me of a Mickey Rourke film quote:
"Anytime you try a decent crime, there are 50 ways you can screw up. If you can think of 25 of them, you're a genius. And you ain't no genius."
I'm going to jump right with the "spirit of the month" and say that maybe we could martyr all of them.
Even if true, that death penalty negotiation means nothing. Heck, cops do it (lie) all the time.
It would be a different story if a DA was involved. But even then a judge could decide to ignore any agreement.
This kid was supposed to be so smart. It was the sloppiest crime you could find. Does he not know there are cameras EVERYWHERE these days? He doesn’t know what gloves are? A mask???
If this had been 30 years ago, he might have got away with it. But then, 30 years ago he probably wouldn’t have been conned into believing it was a good idea.
I guess he all of a sudden figured out what FAFO means.
They’ll turn it into a Broadway musical.
He thought they would pelt him with Hostess cupcakes and give him a slap on the wrist.
