NY Gov. Kathy Hochul endorses Zohran Mamdani for NYC mayor

Gov. Kathy Hochul endorsed lefty Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani for mayor in a bombshell Sunday guest essay — after her camp tried to keep the candidate at arm’s length through the campaign.

“The question of who will be the next mayor is one I take extremely seriously and to which I have devoted a great deal of thought,” Hochul wrote in a New York Times Opinion piece published Sunday night.

“Tonight I am endorsing Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani,” she said.

Hochul’s likely endorsement of Mamdani was first reported by The Post earlier Sunday evening.

Before her official endorsement was announced, the governor said she had “frank” discussions with Mamdani, but confidently landed on endorsing the lefty candidate despite their “disagreements.”

“In the past few months, I’ve had frank conversations with him. We’ve had our disagreements,” Hochul wrote in the guest essay.

“But in our conversations, I heard a leader who shares my commitment to a New York where children can grow up safe in their neighborhoods and where opportunity is within reach for every family. I heard a leader who is focused on making New York City affordable — a goal I enthusiastically support,” she said.

Among the talking points the governor said she discussed with the mayoral frontrunner were affordability, ensuring strong leadership “at the helm” of the NYPD, and “urgently” tackling the “rise of antisemitism” across the five boroughs.

I am frustrated that President Trump has not endorsed Curtis Sliwa for NYC mayor.

I do not know if there is any bad blood between them, or Curtis has a skeleton in his closet.

This should be a no-brainer. Trump cannot claim neutrality given the stark differences between the candidates.

Although we are living it in slow motion, perhaps it is what it feels like one degree away from the tipping point. Even some wildlife are uneasy just prior to an earthquake.

Guy appears, almost out of nowhere, with a message that is the opposite of everything the country stands for and seemingly overnight becomes the overwhelming favorite to become mayor to the largest city in the United States.

It feels like an intelligence op.

Secular Jews are huge on "social justice" so they'll vote for Zohran Mamdani. Then you have Muslim immigrants living in NYC. Finally you have Affluent White Female Urban Liberals (AWFUL). Right there, Zohran gets 40% of the vote already.

I just heard that she is also blocking other candidates from pulling out of the race in order to consolidate votes for a candidate running against this communist. On top of that they now have the voting in NYS very rigged.

Reporter should ask: Are you lying now about lying before or telling the truth that you were lying but now are no longer lying?

Hochul: Whatever gets me the votes.

NYC used ti have a lot of people visiting headquarters of their businesses and lots of tourists too. Not going to happpen now. Businesses can and should move out.
