@WallStreetApes

Robert F Kennedy Jr announced US Taxpayers are spending $72,900,000 PER DAY for soda and candy for people on EBT Food Stamps

That’s $26,608,500,000 per year just on CANDY AND SODA

RFK Jr “We spend $405 million a day on food stamps. That's what the taxpayer is spending. 10% is going to sugary drinks. Another 8% is going to candies. So we are poisoning 60% of our kids who are getting food stamps.”

“The poorest kids, the kids who can least afford to get sick, and we are poisoning them. We are deeming them diabetes, and then we're paying for it upfront with food stamps. We're paying for it again with Medicaid. the rest of his life”

“”I have yet to see anyone supporting what he does no questions asked.

And while I can support his policies, it doesn’t mean that I default support him or everything else he advocates for.””

I’m feeling deja vuey all of a sudden. We’ve had this conversation before...? My point, again, is... what he is pushing re: more government restrictions is a slippery slope that most here on this thread seem perfectly fine with. Which I don’t get, if they are Conservatives. It does not compute.

We know how this can and usually does lead to other “government restrictions” that we will NOT like or approve of, once the Democrats regain control. And...supporting him on this policy can lead to him getting support for his “other” policies that you may not agree with (like wearables). While we agree on most other issues, I don’t understand why my point on this is so hard to understand.

“unsweetened instant tea”

I have a plug-in electric kettle to boil water and the bottom of an old coffee pot.

Pour some water into the kettle, depress a switch, wait until the kettle clicks, drape a tea bag into the coffee pot, pour the water in, cover, wait a few minutes.

Aldi Brenner tea is consistently good.

We don’t need government owned stores.

Yeah, I love tea. But the point is... the unavailability now. We really don’t have much choice ‘but’ to use the tea bags now, vs. a decade ago. My question stands (which was the point)....

why is that?

quotes:

an update to Mexico’s 2014 front-of-pack nutrition labels (FOPNL), and part of a wave of Latin American countries—starting with Chile in 2012—that are implementing laws to curb obesity.

“Eighty percent of my patients have health problems related to junk food,” Rito said. “Our region is very different from central and southern Mexico where they eat more vegetables and fruit.”

“In Mexico, there are high rates of arthritis problems,” Guadiana said. “Eighty percent of my patients have [arthritic] conditions related to obesity.”

70 percent of the kids he[another doctor] sees have insulin resistance.

There is ample evidence of a decline in the purchase of unhealthy products following the implementation of the black octagon warning labels

“I think these Latin American countries have done an excellent job, because despite having limited resources, they are producing much more effective policies there than here in the United States”

“”””Why are the poorest, the fattest, and most addicted?””””

One of the primary reasons is the reason that when I sold encyclopedias door to door, I chose poor neighborhoods, while every employee I ever hired would always insist on being dropped off in rich neighborhoods.

I could have been more specific and said poor black neighborhoods.

You are ignoring a lot of obvious realities.

Cool, that means more for me.

And, I never stated nor implied that food stamps should be used for chocolate. I merely agreed with Sacajaweau that chocolate is healthy.

Wow, that is a “new product”. I had been searching for Lipton unsweetened tea just lasts month and nothing was available... and I shop at Walmart all the time. Yay! Adding this to my next order.

Thank you for that heads up!

Good thought I always see what Mexico does before I do something. I used to get my crazy aunt’s opinion on things but she died.

Like I said to Ansel12, this is a new product that has just become available (the Lipton Unsweetened Instant Tea). It was not on the market last month.

The other tea (Waka) on Amazon is too expensive.

Thanks for the links!

Two lovely Freepers have just pointed me to a new unsweetened instant tea product that Lipton just put out in a 28qt container. I had given up and stopped looking for it since last month but now it’s available. I’m a happy happy camper. If liking instant tea makes me lazy, I’ll take that hit... gleefully!

Ok, ok....lol. But I confess to my laziness at times, as well. Although... the used tea bags do (or did) make a nice addition to my compost pile. I’m back on the instant!

“Good thought I always see what Mexico does before I do something.”

I was in Mexico for dental work.

I was in Mexican supermarkets to buy food. The labels were readily noticed.

Why did I have to go to Mexico for dental work?

azúcar [sugar]
