Robert F Kennedy Jr announced US Taxpayers are spending $72,900,000 PER DAY for soda and candy for people on EBT Food Stamps
That’s $26,608,500,000 per year just on CANDY AND SODA
RFK Jr “We spend $405 million a day on food stamps. That's what the taxpayer is spending. 10% is going to sugary drinks. Another 8% is going to candies. So we are poisoning 60% of our kids who are getting food stamps.”
“The poorest kids, the kids who can least afford to get sick, and we are poisoning them. We are deeming them diabetes, and then we're paying for it upfront with food stamps. We're paying for it again with Medicaid. the rest of his life”

My ex wife would have juice delivered by Schwans. I showed her one day, how many calories and carbs are in that “crap”. She replied, IT IS JUICE. I ended up with three obesed daughters, and of course the ex has a two axle handle behind too.
If you are importing to Mexico, you should be aware of the following information as of October 1st, 2020:
1. Food and non alcoholic beverages will have to display the new frontal labeling:
....
CONTIENE EDULCORANTES
NO RECOMENDABLE IN NIÑOS
https://www.snice.gob.mx/cs/avi/snice/labelling.mx.2020.html
I believe that means:
“contains sweeteners”
“not recommended for children”
“”If it doesn’t smell peachy, back in the bin it goes””
I didn’t know anyone else smelled produce before buying like I do. Pears, apples, peaches, nectarines, plums, you name it - not a ripe item there except maybe grapes...
Rarely does anything in the produce aisles smell like the real thing. I’ve lived in GA for 20 years and have yet to have a GA peach..Tomatoes this year are horrible - have to cut the center out before you can cut one up for salads or a good tomato sandwich.
Food stamps, if it exists, should be more like WIC, where they get coupons for certain items, like dairy, meat (certain grades excluded), fruits, veggies, nuts or nut butters, cooking oils, baking supplies, Also venues for places like Farmer’s Markets.
60% Cacao is a great treat. Actually health food.
Oh, I wasn’t missing your point. You made it very well and I agree with you. Most people on this site agree with you.
I was trying to point out the benefit of a far-out and unacceptable proposal. It makes what you really want more acceptable. In an adversarial situation, always ask for much more than you want or more than you think you can get. Trump does it all the time and it works.
RFK may really want more government control and health monitors for kids but he aint’s going to get it!
Let them go out of pocket to buy sweets. Let it hurt them personally.
Why are the poorest, the fattest, and most addicted?
On THEIR own dime.
Not when it's free government handouts. If they take FREE money from the government, they should take the restrictions on it so it's more likely to be used for what it's intended instead of being able to be traded as a black market form of currency for drugs.
If they don't like the strings, then work for your own money like the rest of us or grow it yourself.
Juice is STILL not good for you. It’s all fruit sugar and no fiber or other nutrients.
If a glass of apple juice contains the sugar equivalent of say 10 apples, think about trying to eat 10 apples at one sitting.
I think you’ve answered your own question.

Ok, I get that and agree. My main concern is the people that call themselves Conservatives, and yet think it’s A-OK for more government restriction and control... because it’s RFK Jr. doing it for ‘da cheeldren’s health’ sake. It’s a slippery slope and they are sliding down it at turbo mode with their approvals. I’ll be nice and call it their tunnel vision. They’re not seeing the big picture.
And thanks for your optimism that he won’t succeed. Because I’m thinking that and worried that he will succeed.. if enough people agree with what he is doing.

Interesting idea.
Cut out food stamps, open government stores that sell only real food items and let the people take what they need from the different food categories so much person.
Why water? Don't they have sinks and faucets like the rest of us?
Also, I'd not be averse to adding a ration of milk and eggs per week and PB&J.
Chocolate has it’s benefits, but sugar in it rots teeth, which I think medicaid pays to fix.
I have yet to see anyone supporting what he does no questions asked.
And while I can support his policies, it doesn't mean that I default support him or everything else he advocates for.
I hate every kind of chocolate.
And we should’t be paying for poor kids to rot their teeth with it.

I call it the ‘sugar push’. Think about it. The more people that become diabetic or overweight from sugar, the more Big Pharma rakes in more millions. So is Big Pharma really in control of most of the food that reaches the shelves now via kickbacks, $$$ under the table, so to speak?
And something else I consider might be a bit insidious.... is the unavailability of unsweetened instant tea now. Lipton and Nestea used to make a powdered instant tea with no sugar. My mom used to make it all the time, rather than using tea bags. It was affordable, quick, convenient, easy and no calories... and it tasted good. But guess what? It is no longer available. Only very expensive instant tea or instant tea with sugar or with artificial lemon flavoring is on the market now. My question is..... why? Why would they remove a product that was that good? Did Big Pharma not like the “unsweetened” part? I have to wonder.
