The SS Edmund Fitzgerald Was Just Scanned by An AI — And It Revealed Something No One Expected

Beneath the icy depths of Lake Superior lies the SS Edmund Fitzgerald, a ship that vanished without warning nearly fifty years ago. No distress call. No survivors. Just silence. Now, for the first time, advanced AI has scanned the wreck with breathtaking precision. What it revealed was not just decay or twisted steel, but details that no one expected to see. How could one of the most respected ships on the Great Lakes disappear so suddenly? The answers hidden in this scan may rewrite the story of its final hours.

1974 Dodge Challenger owned by Bruce Hudson, the youngest crew member of the Edmund Fitzgerald. This car is well maintained out of respect for Bruce and his family. Years ago Gordon Lightfoot autographed the air cleaner cover.

Why is there a cult around the sunken ship called Edmund Fitzgerald?

Not to mention that the cargo was “taconite” a partially processed iron ore that absorbs water. So if the water comin’ in is absorbed the ship gets heavier than it’s rating... can’t pump out the water...ship gets lower in water and storm and wave action can tear the hull apart...

....that good ship and true..
Was a bone to be chewed..

A great song...the history of the term “the witch of November” is particularly sad .
Again, unparalleled song writing and performing

Once someone learns to ignore a "tease" and a "hook", you will free up a lot of valuable time.

When I listen to a video and the narrator says "be sure to listen to the end of the video for a special surprise", that is my cue to stop the video, and do something useful.

I think...the Arthur M. Anderson was retired this year.

Thats the boat that was in contact with the Fitz when it went down.

Not many inspiring ballads about plumbers for example. Or snow plow drivers.

From what I hear of AI, it could be called upon to write ballads about plumbers and snow-plow drivers in short order.

*****SPOILER ALERT!!!*****

Trump’s fault. Courts have ruled the sinking unconstitutional, ordered the ship restored and the dead resurrected within 3 days.

Gov Tim Walz claims he can resurrect them by inserting a tampon up their a@@es and laying his jazz hands upon them.

I didn’t know that about taco nite. That would certainly explain why there was no alarm. They may not have known they were taking on water, because the taco nite was absorbing it all.

One Lake Superior shipping veteran had the most plausible explanation. He suspects the ship began taking on water after it bottomed out on Six Fathom Shoal. This was along the altered route the captain took while trying to weather the storm.

To this mariner, the biggest telltale sign was the captain’s report of a broken railing on the deck, which is not a normal type of damage you’d see from storm storm winds and heavy seas. Instead, it would indicate that the top of the ship was briefly in a state of structural tension — which would happen if there was a force acting on it from below.

The coast guard, insurance companies , fact finding committees can’t really pin point why or how the ship went down.No distress call...a few bits of debris found on surface, supposedly only one body found( wasn’t verified as crewman). Last words from Captain was “we’re holding our own”. Superior is so cold, the bodies don’t deteriorate much or bloat and float from bacterially produced gases like warm water drownings...Ship had good history of service, had set hauling records many times... There are books written on the disaster, inquiries, fame seekers trying to make money off the disaster... The human tragedy is acute also. Plus masterful song by G. Lightfoot.
I knew Lightfoot was a good songwriter, but while doing research at a library I discovered the disaster song was a true story. That really got me interested. Amazing ability to create an epic poem/song by Lightfoot

Good question. One reason is that Gordon Lightfoot memorialized it in song. Another reason was that this type of shipwreck seemed like it would never happen on an interior water body under modern conditions.

I watched just portions of it. If there was any desire to convey information, that could have been done in ten minutes or less.

I have been officer of the deck on a landing ship tank. There could not be a more basic responsibilities than seeing your ship is always watertight and not overloaded.

OP, provide the synopsis and conclusion. Click Bait plus a YouTube video is bad form on a message board where Alphabet Inc. is the antithesis of everything about this website believes in.
