I watched just portions of it. If there was any desire to convey information, that could have been done in ten minutes or less.
I have been officer of the deck on a landing ship tank. There could not be a more basic responsibilities than seeing your ship is always watertight and not overloaded.

Since there was no notification of a problem, then progressive flooding was probably not the ultimate cause of the problem. Either the waterline was improperly painted, or it was loaded to the point the waterline disappeared below the surface. In that case the ship would flip over in a heavy sea.
