Cracker Barrel has been around for 55 years. Through the decades, the restaurant has been known as a family-friendly spot for homestyle food, general store shopping, and nostalgic activities. The brand is undergoing a major makeover now, and some diners have noticed that even the beloved peg game is changing.
The peg game has been around since Cracker Barrel opened in 1960, and it has been a staple on their dining tables ever since. It's a fun (screen free!) way for diners to pass the time while they wait for their food. Plus, it's been available in the store for $5 for anyone interested in brushing up on their skills at home.
According to the Cracker Barrel website, the simple game, made up of pegs and a wooden triangle, dates back to the court of Louis XIV in 1697. But Cracker Barrel's version has a funny twist with snarky wording. Fans will remember the scoring system: if you leave only one peg, you're a “genius.” If you leave two pegs, you’re “purty smart.” But it starts getting a little judgy with three pegs (you're just plain "dumb") and four or more labels you an "EG-NO-RA-MOOSE."
As the store has given its decor a "fresh look and feel," they gave a similar updated appearance to the peg game. While the game board and rules remain the same, some diners on social media have shown that the wording has changed.
According to a video posted on Tik Tok, the wording now says:
Leave only one - You're a genius! Leave two - Rocking the chair but not the game. Leave three or more - No need to be embarrassed, try again! A spokesperson from Cracker Barrel told Country Living, "The peg game is still the same peg game our guests have known and loved for years, and some may look visually different now, but the rules and fun remain completely unchanged."
Have you noticed the updated peg game at your local Cracker Barrel?

Is Cracker Barrel going to quit donating to every far-left cause?
Really trying hard to get the country out of cracker barrel, aren’t they? Before you know it, it’ll be just another Applebee’s. They obviously are looking for a different demographic.
OUTSTANDING!! Thanks for posting 😄😄
They also shxt canned the new logo and are going back to the old one and they also thanked Trump.
I consider all this hoopla about them changing the place to be much adu about nothing.
We stopped going there about a year ago because their food was noticeably worse. We just moved on.
They should focus on selling Quiche, Sushi and General Tso’s chicken.
That’s pretty good.
The food going downhill is PART of the change that people don’t like.
Leave one: You are a racist cisgendered heteronormative white supremacist who used your white male privilege to steal all the pegs from people of color on the board stolen from indigenous peoples.
Leave two: You are a racist cisgendered heteronormative white supremacist who used your white female privilege to steal all but one peg from people of color on the board stolen from indigenous peoples only because the white man got their first.
Leave all the pegs: You have rightfully liberated all the pegs from the white man and each peg shall be equally distributed to restore peg justice to underserved marginalized people of color, lgbtqwtf, and justice involved persons. You win.
Uncle Hershel’s avocado toast
From personal experience, I know that going from eg-no-ra-moose to genius has to more of a thrill than going from merely “embarrassed”. One time I left six or seven legs standing and invented a new category of “purty much brain day-ed”.
Everyone needs to view Robby Starbucks’short video on Cracker Barrel.
Their logo is the least of their problems.
Cracker Barrel is a substantial donator to the far-left.

That game (we called it the golf tee game) has been around in restaurants a lot longer than Cracker Barrel. The Dutch Pantry in PA comes to mind.
I never heard of. Cracker Barrel until it came into the news a few years ago, but do remember Howard Johnson’s had these peg games on the tables in the 1970s.
Cracker Barrel’s going back to what they were - we won this one - big time.
