Steak 'n Shake has taken aim at Cracker Barrel, accusing the Southern country-themed chain of erasing its heritage and identity with its controversial new logo.
The Indianapolis-based burger chain took to X on Thursday to slam Cracker Barrel for allegedly abandoning its roots, implying that CEO Julie Felss Masino is stripping away the identity of the restaurant and gift store chain in pursuit of short-term trends.

Had lunch at a SnS yesterday. I worked there when I was in high school back in the 70s and have to say they have improved a lot. Never better. I stayed away for a long time because of bad food and service. Much better now. Food was good, and their beef tallow fries are very good. Service was nice.
I don’t think we have Steak’n Shakes here in California. At least I have never heard or seen one before....I may be wrong but don’t think so...
I was a child in Indianapolis until 65 years ago. My family would go to Shake N Stake back then. It was a great drive-in.
Is the gift store merch even made in this country ?
In my area the steak and shake required proof of vaccines to get in.
Never, ever again will i give them any quarter.
Saw the first Cracker Barrel add on YouTube this morning. Wasted on me because the only Nevada CB appears to be in Las Vegas, and that’s a long haul.
Attention young Republicans: picket Cracker Barrel’s woke locations.
I love their Wisconsin Butter Burger. Better than Culver’s.
Steak ‘n shake is so-so and Cracker Barrel’s food is so-so. I like their Country store though
Rule of thumb investment advice: If a company in your portfolio hire a woman as CEO, sell the stock immediately. Also if a company hires a CEO who has a history of donating to Democrats, sell as well.
There’s one in Reno off I-80 near Keystone(?)
I grew up with Steak & Shake. It was the center of after school life in the late 60’s.
Cruising through in an amazing diverse range of cars. Flirting with the girls. Even occasionally got a date! Memorable times.
Still occasionally enjoy the burgers, fries or a chile-5 ways. Disappointed that they seem to have discontinued their unique “freezes”.
S&S needs to reopen its locations in Pennsylvania. There was one in Bethlehem that I recall had good food, better than its competitors.
we don’t have SnS in AZ, so I’ll have to take your word for it. But a better burger than Culver’s is a high bar to beat
Good for Steak ‘n Shake - another ‘at home’ place to have a great burger.
My dad, president of another restaurant chain (went out of biz when he died) tried to buy Steak n shake when they first went into business. Wouldn’t sell. He and one of his managers drove to the first McDonald’s and tried to buy it. Wouldn’t sell.
Steak n Shake is the only fast food restaurant I’d ever go to. Wouldn’t now cuz don’t eat bread (wheat raises chholesterol} or beef (cattle were getting MRNA shots).
Re cholesterol, read book by Wm Davis, MD: Wheat Belly. Gave up wheat, two months later, no statins. I always prefer prevention to BigPharma drugs.
I never heard of Steak ‘n Shake but I commend them for their pointing this out.
Cracker Barrel has been one of the most loved brands in America for decades… That changed this week with a logo redesign that infuriated the public but… the problem goes MUCH deeper than a logo.@CrackerBarrel has gone fully woke and now it’s time to expose everything.
