Cracker Barrel’s stock price fell by double digits this week after the company unveiled a new logo that removes the chain’s signature barrel and seated figure, marking the first major design change in nearly half a century.
CNN reported that shares of the company ‘nosedived more than 12%’ on Thursday following the rollout of the company’s new logo, which eliminates the image of a man sitting beside a barrel and instead features only the restaurant’s name in brown text on a yellow background. Marketing experts told the outlet that the decision could risk alienating loyal customers if the company fails to communicate the changes effectively.
The redesign is the first time in 48 years that the logo has not included the iconic illustration. The original Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, opened in 1969, featured a text-only logo before adding the barrel and man in 1977. Company leaders said the new design is part of a broader $700 million transformation plan aimed at modernizing the brand.
CEO Julie Felss Masino defended the changes, telling ABC News, “People like what we’re doing. Cracker Barrel needs to feel like the Cracker Barrel for today and for tomorrow — the things that you love are still there. We need people to choose us, and we want people to choose us.”
In addition to the logo update, Cracker Barrel has begun overhauling its restaurant interiors, replacing dark wood and country-themed trinkets with lighter designs, while also debuting new menu items and advertising campaigns.

The only reason anyone ever ate at Craker Barrel was the atmosphere with all the antique trinkets and stuff everywhere. Nobody ever ate there because the food was good. It was bland. Now there’s no reason for anyone to ever eat there again.
THANK YOU. I wanted to say what the food taste like in my first comment but I’d be using strong language so I self censored.
I mean their rolls and cornbread is good but that is about it. Everything else is..****COMMENT REMOVED BY MODERATOR*****
This is another example of a CEO who feels he must do something dramatic to justify his high salary.
And “steady as she goes” just isn’t dramatic enough.
When will these clueless CEOs ever learn?
The NFL and Noosecar have gone full WOKE as well.
Bud Light, Gillette, Target. Who’s next?
Suck it up buttercup
Go Woke....Go Broke.
BTTT
How in the world did a company like Cracker Barrel end up with a ‘woke’ CEO like her in the first place? I’m asking because I really don’t know all the background on this story.
This all just seems like rage bait. Not falling for it.
I have only eaten at a Cracker Barrel once when we were visiting my Aunt and Uncle in Florida about ten years ago. I love traditional American restaurant food, so I enjoyed my meal. My wife liked it to. We have a Cracker Barrel about 60 miles from our home; on numerous occasions my wife and I have discussed stopping there.
Knowing that the corporation is now run by woke idiots, we definitely will not bother.
Can anyone confirm that Cracker Barrel endorsed pride month this year?
>> removes the chain’s signature barrel and seated figure
BUT DON’T YOU GET IT??!? THAT DUDE AT THE BARREL IS WHYTE!
Well, OK, yellow-and-brown... but still... not allowed!
ROFL at another self-own by a marxist CEO chick.
The draw of CB was its DIFFERENCE, not its SAMENESS. It had a unique charm, which made up for the fact that the food generally wasn't something to write home about.
Just like Hooters without the girls is just another food joint, Cracker Barrel without the old-time decor and atmosphere is just another food joint.
Sterilizing the logo was just the last straw for a lot of people.
Damn woke CEO bull$hit, when's it gonna stop....?
>> Nobody ever ate there because the food was good. It was bland.
15 to 20 years ago, the food WAS good. But no longer!
>> Now there’s no reason for anyone to ever eat there again.
That part is truth...
It’s the “Cracker Barrel LGBTQ+ Team” banner that concerns me.
Agreed. We stopped at Cracker Barrel occasionally over the years; never had a bad meal. Food was decent and filling. Always a reliable place to eat if we were road-tripping. Wintertime was the best. Big hearth fireplace blazing and lots of cute Christmas stuff.
My mother and sister used to go once a month. My mom loved the store side and probably kept her local place in business.
Been a few years since I went there. Now I have no reason to go back.
I thought it was pretty good.
Shouldn’t it be more useful to report how many more or fewer customers are in the restaurants? Investor moods for stocks don’t matter as much as people buying the meals or staying away.
