How to Avoid Huge Ships, by John W. Trimmer is a one of my favorite books on Amazon. It has over 1400 reviews, one of which attests that after reading the book the largest thing the reader was hit by was a diesel bus.

Been on the Midway about 15 years ago - they did a really nice job with it.

So the aircraft carrier sustained more damage than a 65 foot pleasure boat? Good thing the ship never faced a direct enemy attack.

Let’s say that again…
“ crashing his yacht into the USS Midway Museum, a docked aircraft carrier permanently situated at the San Diego downtown waterfront...”
A docked aircraft carrier permanently situated…
“Umm… sorry officer… I didn’t see him… He came out of nowhere….”

I doubt the yacht did NY thing more than scratch the paint.
Old aircraft carriers have a 10-20" solid steel torpedo belt at the water line and below.

How do you fail to see an aircraft carrier...
Its uh kinda BIG ....

From the article:
“Maybe a fence around it or something like that, a barrier so the ship can be guarded, and a lookout,”
Yes, yes, a lookout. That way if they see a yacht coming at them they can turn out of its way. That’s some smart thinking right there.
