Anti-obesity medications can significantly raise testosterone levels and improve health outcomes for men with obesity or type 2 diabetes, according to a new study.
Testosterone not only plays a critical role in the body when it comes to male sexual functioning, but it can also have an impact on an individual's bone mass, fat distribution, muscle mass, strength and red blood cell production. Increases in body weight and prevalence of type 2 diabetes are often associated with lowered testosterone levels, resulting in fatigue, decreased libido and quality of life.
"While it is well known that weight loss from lifestyle changes or bariatric surgery increases testosterone levels, the impact that anti-obesity medications may also have on these levels has not been widely studied," said Shellsea Portillo Canales, M.D. "Our study is among the first to provide compelling evidence that low testosterone can be reversed with the use of commonly prescribed anti-obesity medications."
To test this hypothesis, researchers analyzed the electronic health records of 110 adult men with obesity or type 2 diabetes being treated with the weight-loss medications semaglutide, dulaglutide or tirzepatide and who were not on testosterone or hormonal therapy. Participants' total and free testosterone levels were measured before and during treatment over the course of 18 months.
Along with 10% weight loss, the proportion of men with normal levels of both total and free testosterone rose from 53% to 77%. These findings indicate that anti-obesity medications can also have a positive effect on the reproductive health of men with obesity or type 2 diabetes.
"Results from this study show that there is a direct correlation between the use of anti-obesity medications and testosterone levels," said Portillo Canales. "Doctors and their patients can now consider this class of medications for the treatment of men's reproductive health."

I suppose I could have a limb amputated. I just need to calculate which one, an arm or a leg.
Thats actually a punch line from a pretty good chauvinist joke. God tells Adam that hes has come up with the answer for his loneliness and its so amazing that its beyond anything he could possibly imagine. “But its going to cost you an arm and a leg” God says. “An arm and a leg???” Adam shoots back. “Thats pretty steep! What can I get for...say...a rib?” And the rest is history.
I’ll take anything if it will just help get rid of some this excess testosterone.
That’s why God made dogs, to make up for women.
Not anything new. Fat acts like female hormones on guys, similar to estrogen.
Just love how big pharma comes up with these enticements for their products...anything to do with growing bald men’s hair back or their sexual ability grabs their attention....
“Free testosterone rebounds for 77% of men who lost 10% of their weight.”

10% of what? water, fat, muscle mass?
Quantify the numbers. Also, if a body reduces its overall weight by 10% - of course the amount of testosterone will go up as a percentage of the body weight.
There are, am given to understand, three ways to measure testosterone - free, bound, blood (appx)
Many ways to massage these numbers. Would check the Life Extension Foundation for more information, as they researched this years ago, not using drugs.

Who paid for this study - let us see who benefits.
God made man and rested. God made woman and no one has rested since.
God made women because sheep can’t cook.

I've noticed no change in testosterone or need to test blood testosterone levels, inasmuch as I have always felt its propulsion.
I read that joke to my wife—and braced for the frying pan—but to my relief she laughed out loud. You never know.
Gee I dunno...I never could get used to doing it with dogs.
At least we got loyalty and devotion.
