Top officials will brief lawmakers on Thursday amid a political battle over what intelligence reveals about the damage to Iran’s nuclear facilities.
The White House plans to limit classified intelligence sharing with Congress after leaks to the press of an early assessment undermined President Donald Trump’s claim that U.S. airstrikes obliterated Iranian nuclear facilities, a senior Trump administration official said, setting the stage for a contentious classified briefing before senators Thursday.
Amid a political battle over what the intelligence shows, the White House is expected to send four of its top national security officials to brief lawmakers: Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, CIA Director John Ratcliffe and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Dan Caine, administration officials said.
Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, who testified in March that U.S. intelligence agencies assessed that Iran was not building a nuclear weapon, will be notably absent.
“Ratcliffe will represent the intelligence community,” the senior Trump administration official said of Gabbard’s absence, speaking on the condition on anonymity to discuss plans not yet made public. “The media is turning this into something it’s not.”
Trump has called Gabbard’s assessment of Iran’s nuclear program “wrong” and largely sidelined her in navigating the United States’ role in the war between Iran and Israel, current and former U.S. officials and people close to the White House told The Washington Post. White House officials have insisted she is doing critical work.
Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-New York) called on the White House Wednesday to “immediately undo” its decision to limit classified information sharing.
“The administration has no right to stonewall Congress on matters of national security,” Schumer said on the Senate floor. “Senators deserve information, and the administration has a legal obligation to inform Congress precisely about what is...”

Thank you very much and God bless you.
I hate the friggin’ media! They left out the part where Tulsi said they were enriching uranium at a ridiculous rate for inexplicable reasons, which was concerning. I also don’t believe anything the Compost or the NYT writes.
“The administration has no right to stonewall Congress on matters of national security,”
Much bluster from Mr. Bluster himself.
Grillmaster of the Year, Chuckie, is about to find out the President has every right to limit who gets the briefing.
The DNI doesn’t usually give press conferences
Are they only skipping Tulsi, or the rest of the IC not mentioned?🙄 WaPo - always trying to stir up trouble for conservatives; usually with half truths, if not outright lies.
The Washington Post with statements like: “speaking on the condition on anonymity” tells me this is nothing but BS.
They are probably trying to create the impression there is some sort of divide between Tulsi & Trump. Which is typical commie propaganda efforts.
Deep State is trying to remove Tulsi. Hopefully, Trump understands what they are doing.
To beathovens fifth ... nobody cares... nobody cares... sowhat if I can’t spel nobody cares
not to mention, they didn’t , her statement was from a march QA not in June, sewing discontent one erroneous quote at a time.
*** Deep State is trying to remove Tulsi. Hopefully, Trump understands what they are doing.***
If Trump understood, then she would be there.
“Senators deserve information,
Not when they squeal to the press.
No doubt, Gabbard is getting “the treatment” as a result of her waking up to how sinister the democratic party has become and leaving it. Hopefully Trump is not blond to what they are trying to do to her.
The Dems and Deep State care, especially about her recent statements about uncovering fraud in the 2020 election.
