The year 1973 was full of change and entirely groovy. The U.S. pulled out of Vietnam, Roe v. Wade shook up the courts, and gas lines stretched for blocks as the oil crisis took hold. On the flip side, bell-bottoms were in full swing, Pink Floyd dropped “The Dark Side of the Moon,” and a little horse named Secretariat ran straight into the history books. These 1973 photos represent how electric the year was.

Growing up, my mom worked in a factory that made those “bath sets”.
Hahahahaha!
That took me a second. It was in my parent’s bathroom, so possibly?
Yup just looked dit up- grew up watching him, Andre, Ivan Koloa, goril.a monsoon, and a few others. Strongbow was a hoot. They were all pretty funny to watch.
can’t even imagine those catastrophes. Your perseverance is heroic.
By contrast, what would you say was your best decade?”
______
This will confuse you...
The best for me was the 70s.
I had my husband, my family, my home. It never got any better and the losses never stopped.
I scrolled to 1913 and never saw it!!
Ivan Kolov- stupid aurocorrect. Remember the sheik too. Lots great actors in wrestling.
in 1973 I paid $5,100 for a brand new 73 Corvette Coupe. Beautiful dark green metallic with camel interior. Did not know GM made it into a weak piece of shit with about 190 hp. Sold it for a profit in 1975 and get a 68 Mako Shark Roadster 427 390 hp Muncie 4:56 diff. A real car.
turned 17 in '73
my list of regrets is pretty short...
Love the pink Volvo! I first thought it was an AMC Pacer, my very first car.
I was six in 73. A pack of free range children. What a time to grow up.
There’s also “antique.”
Sure do. Philly started the concept. Still remember mom-mom taking us to the automat.
What a time indeed.
::I never really thought the era was about anything except a bunch of people too focused on themselves.::

I second that.
It was in the 1970s that so-called feminism really took off and began the destruction of the family.
For me, the only good thing about the decade was that my 4 children were born then.
Of all the iconic pictures of Secretariat winning the Belmont and cinching the Triple Crown, they use one of Turcotte on him for just a workout!
And Secretariat was not a “little” horse.
The year VPINTHEAK was born.
