250th Anniv. Army Parade...Yay or Nay?
6-14-25
Posted on 06/14/2025 9:23:10 AM PDT by nuconvert
I just read a poll that said 51% of Veterans are not in favor.
What are people here feeling?
I know it's expensive, but it's not like it happens every year.
There seem to be a lot of people bothered by the optics. Doesn't bother me. I hope it comes off without a major incident. I'll be watching on tv. :~)

I’m not interested in parades, but this one seems like a good one, for those who are into that sort of thing. 250 years is a big deal.

(2024 is going to be one for the history books, like 1939. And 2025 will be more so, like 1940-1945.)

I grew up going to parades every summer. Don’t go to many anymore. This seems like a once in a lifetime.

I thought about attending in person, then I found out I would need to show up around 2 to get through security. I’ll watch on TV.

And, yes, I also hope it goes off without any incidents.

How many countries, dedicated to the ideal that all men are created equal and are entitled to life liberty in the pursuit of happiness, have lasted 250 years?
I say go for it… and show the leftist bastards here and all around the world what it looks like when free people tell them to GF themselves.

Read a poll? Depends on who is doing the poll.

Yep.
Nobody goes to the Circus any more. Entertainment for a time before movies, records, tv, video games, etc.

Agreed, also because it coincides with the founding of our country.

It’s a great idea! Especially great in light of the hateful, anti-American, democratic party protests today

The money it costs to put this together is spent on illegal alien “education” (“free lunch” program” daily. Meh.
I’m all for it.

The 250th anniversary is a great time to teach the real history of our founding to those who were taught nothing. I say yay!

I like it. 250 years is a bid deal. Without the Army none of us would be here.
Those who complain about tanks, missles, etc. in the parade are, as usual, paying no attention to history. We’ve done it before. Eisenhower’s inauguration for one.

Reminds me of a big mistake our navy and AAF made during WWII. they would see where the heaviest damage was to returning planes was and re-enforce those areas. Didn’t help losses.
Then it hit them, maybe the ones that were shot down were shot down because they had heavy damage in the “undamaged” areas on the planes that returned. So they re-enforced accordingly, and it reduced losses.
i.e. they didn’t ask the vets that died in combat or of old age.

The Army rarely gets anything nice.
The Navy, Coast Guard and Air Force has celebrations, the Army gets dipsy-doodle.
Let the Army have a parade for it's 250.

We haven’t had a military parade since 1991 (I remember seeing one of the stealth bombers - Spirit? - and thinking how magnificent it was.)
I don’t know why people would oppose this one today - it’s a special anniversary.
