You know. riding “shotgun” in the PGR really affected me very deeply.

I had to step up and take control of one of rides when
the person who was supposed to be there and TRIED to
be there, but he was SO very sick, we all encourage him to
go home and rest.

So after he left, they were all looking at ME!
The weather was atrocious!!
Heavy wind, snow squalls..
That didn’t bother me, but what REALLY scared me, was when they lifted the casket off the flat bed truck, it began to rock with the wind, not gently but really swinging back and forth.

It is astounding how very long 5 minutes seemed to be
when you are on the side of the Troops, and wanting to protect them..when those idiots that were protesting would have LOVED to see something bad happen to one of our Fallen and/ or his parents having to cope with that!

(Those were the NASTY Westboro Baptist Church loons that were trying to ruin the funeral.)

Finally, he was lowered gently into his resting place, and I thanked the Lord for his great love for his family and all who were gathered there.

His mother made her way to me, and gave me a strong, but gentle hug, and a kiss on the cheek,
Then she stepped back and thanked us all..
It really brought it home, you know?

I have not named the Fallen hero of this story, to protect his privacy.

We were the Honor Guard that escorted the Fallen and their families to the churches, and to the cemeteries for internment, and kept the protesters and the press away from
our Fallen.

Sometimes the Press was worst than the protesters!
