Murphy
Self | May 21, 2025 | Jim Noble

Posted on 05/21/2025 3:15:44 PM PDT by Jim Noble

My chocolate Lab Murphy lost the strength in his back legs and was going blind. I’ve always had dogs, I know how the story ends, but today was the day.

I just got home and saw his empty bowls - so I felt like posting.

I lost a big old Golden named Murphy. Went out and got another. I hope they find each other up there.

Truly the most pure and innocent, so sorry. Our Girl Ellie looks like she is heading down that road. We will take her for her annual shot nest week, but will need to add Blood work this time. She just isn’t quite right.

I'm so so sorry for your loss, Jim. God bless you and bring you peace. My heart breaks for you.

Consider that for healing, nothing is more comforting that a new pup to love and care for. Been there, done that …

There is sorrow enough in the natural way
From men and women to fill our day;
And when we are certain of sorrow in store,
Why do we always arrange for more?
Brothers and Sisters, I bid you beware
Of giving your heart to a dog to tear.

Can’t say Ol Rudyard is wrong about how we grieve but the joy they give does balance things a bit. Or even a lot.

The price for all the love, joy, friendship, and companionship is a broken heart.

So sorry! It’s the hardest part of loving a pet, but it’s overshadowed by years of happy memories! Wishing you comfort and peace.

So very sorry for your loss, FRiend. Those first moments getting home seeing that bowl, holding that empty collar and missing the tip tap of their feet never is easy. Hugs as you grieve the loss of your friend. 💔

I’ve been there. It’s the most depressing feeling one can have. I’ve lost family members and not been hit as hard as some pets deaths. Of all of the human emotions, psychologists say mourning/depression is the strongest. Stronger than love, fear and anger. I believe that. Even time doesn’t erase it completely. Just deal with it day by day.

I have needed to take care of many of my pets over the years, in a similar manner. It must be done, but it never gets any easier. Each time, the experience felt like being hit with a hot, unsteadying, breathtaking bolt of lightening. I don’t know how else to put it, in short form. Any thunder already happened as a long, slow build up of warnings leading to this event. It’s my way to help end the suffering of my beloved pet.
