Why would they want to ban this? Not a huge football fan but I do enjoy a good game once or twice a year.

The play is misnamed if you watch it most times the offensive line and the quarterback surge forward they don’t shove the quarterback Over The Line.
The Philadelphia quarterback has exceptionally strong legs and squat presses really high weights.
If you think about it, if they really shove the quarterback through the line from behind they probably kill him certainly injure him half of the time.

I distinctly remember growing up that it was a penalty to push your own player across the goal line.

It's a fun play.....Josh Allen wanted it banned??
I guess I'd rather see a "Longest Yard" play.
I'm new to football...and still trying to figure out why grabbing another players shirt is a no no.

The NFL should not ban the "tush push." Teams need to learn how to defend it. Josh Allen - while they do not do the tush push - is a big QB that always go to his left on QB sneaks. No tush push but teams can't seem to stop it.
Here is a novel plan. Teams should defend the Eagles so they are not in a 1 yard or less to go for a first down.
The NFL used to have a rule that no player on offense can push or pull the ball for extra yards. Reinstate that rule.

Being a ‘copycat’ league, it will be all over the NFL this year on first and goal at the two plays, now that it is approved.
Somebody will eventually get seriously hurt, paralyzed or even killed, doing this play, but it’s all about ratings and the Benjamins that go with them..................

It it like “doing the French mistake”?

Other teams have tried it. Jalen bench presses 500 pounds.

The NFL Rules committee should modify it so that ONLY ONE PLAYER can PUSH, not multiple ones.............

Then all NFL plays should be banned. Don’t be absurd.

Eagles and Colts (now w/ Tyler Warren) the most happy with this decision.

Actually the Bills do try the push. But they’re no good at it. They tried it 3 times in the AFC Championship, failed to convert the down all 3 times. It’s actually a much harder play than people think. And not terribly pleasant for the QB (you try having a 250 pound RB push you through 300 pound linemen). I think Allen wanted it banned so the Bills would stop calling it.
