Ford has announced a recall of over 250,000 vehicles over a potential issue that could make their brakes defective.
Ford announced in a filing to the National Highway Traffic Administration that it would be recalling 273,800 Expedition and Lincoln Navigator SUVs due to braking issues.
The report stated, “SUVs’ front brake lines “may be in contact with the engine air cleaner outlet pipe,” causing possible brake defects.
“A brake line leak may cause longer-than-expected brake pedal travel and result in a reduction in the rate of deceleration,” added Ford.
Check out what Fox Business reported:
Ford is recalling 273,800 Expedition and Lincoln Navigator SUVs in response to a potential issue that could make their brakes defective.
The recalled Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator vehicles are from model years 2022-2024, according to a recall report the automaker submitted to the National Highway Traffic Administration (NHTSA).
The recalled SUVs’ front brake lines “may be in contact with the engine air cleaner outlet pipe,” which could cause the lines to sustain damage and leak.
“A brake line leak may cause longer-than-expected brake pedal travel and result in a reduction in the rate of deceleration,” Ford said in the report. “If there is a rapid loss of brake fluid or the brake fluid is completely depleted, this can extend the distance required to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.”
The front brake line potentially getting bent during installation may have been the source of the issue, according to the NHTSA recall report.

Because after over 100 years in the automotive industry, brakes are hard to get right, and transmissions, and engines, and steering columns, and gaskets that don’t leak......
Give me a brake.
I blame computers..............

That sounds like an engineering design flaw to me.
An average of 80 grand for a vehicle and they still cant get it right.
MOFOS.
Ford DEI Department Breaking News!
Is being able to stop an important thing when operating a motor vehicle? If it moves and it shouldn’t duct tape, if it doesn’t and it should WD-40.
back in the day, my low-mileage 1970 Mach I had extremely crappy brakes that really didn’t want to stop the car [plus a plethora of other defects] ... i vowed to NEVER buy another American car again after that, and i’ve kept my vow ...
at any rate, Ford has had over 50 years since then to make brakes that work, and yet they STILL don’t seem to be able to do that ...
Meh, brakes are just a crutch for lousy drivers.
calling Red Green, calling Red Green to the White courtesy telephone ...
Can’t catch a brake, can we?
So many choices...where do I put my 60 grand...???
I remember reading about Stirling Moss in the 1957 Mille Miglia, when his brake pedal broke off as he was approaching a corner at about 130. He made it through the corner somehow, then managed to slow the car to walking speed, whereupon he and his navigator jumped out and stopped the car by hand. He didn’t need no stinkin’ brakes either.
DEI at play....just like RV’S.
Don’t forget the horrible transmissions found in Fords.
I will never understand why people would want a Ford.
Long live my Toyota Highlander! Never breaks down.
It sounds like a quick check at the dealer and a quick fix…hopefully.
As a former Ford tech I had to change a thousand brake light pressure switches and add a harness that included a fuse in it because the wires could possibly flame on.
Typical.
Wow…I don’t remember the service bulletin number.
Actually, it was usually the harness only if the switch was not yet leaking fluid.
This will just amount to doing an inspection when you get your oil changed, at the dealer and secure a brake line so it does not rub.
Maybe it’s just a plot to sell more air filters…would not doubt it.
I don’t miss it…terrible business.
Sounds like something the mayor of garage logic would say :)
