Because after over 100 years in the automotive industry, brakes are hard to get right, and transmissions, and engines, and steering columns, and gaskets that don’t leak......

Is being able to stop an important thing when operating a motor vehicle? If it moves and it shouldn’t duct tape, if it doesn’t and it should WD-40.

back in the day, my low-mileage 1970 Mach I had extremely crappy brakes that really didn’t want to stop the car [plus a plethora of other defects] ... i vowed to NEVER buy another American car again after that, and i’ve kept my vow ...

at any rate, Ford has had over 50 years since then to make brakes that work, and yet they STILL don’t seem to be able to do that ...

It sounds like a quick check at the dealer and a quick fix…hopefully.

As a former Ford tech I had to change a thousand brake light pressure switches and add a harness that included a fuse in it because the wires could possibly flame on.

Typical.

Wow…I don’t remember the service bulletin number.

Actually, it was usually the harness only if the switch was not yet leaking fluid.

This will just amount to doing an inspection when you get your oil changed, at the dealer and secure a brake line so it does not rub.

Maybe it’s just a plot to sell more air filters…would not doubt it.

I don’t miss it…terrible business.
