ICE just raided the largest mass planned housing development in America and questioned over 300 people, making 33 arrests while dozens apparently fled the scene in panic. Activists say illegal immigrants represent a major backbone of the US labor market, but proponents of these raids say unemployed Americans might now be able to find a job. 33 people were detained and "dozens" fled the scene. Some estimate the true number of illegal workers to be much higher as ICE reportedly recieved a large number of complaints before the raid took place.

Jobs dried up for a while, more than a year, but illegals had no trouble getting them. There was a temporary rise in jobs right after the hurricanes but they quickly brought in illegals and the listings died again... unless you are bilingual.
Somehow the illegals have no trouble getting big trucks and they buy up gold left and right that Americans have been reduced to selling. The illegals sell plenty of weed and drugs and take their money back home.
I am only now finally seeing job listings that aren’t just scammers down here in Florida again but it is still thin pickings in my area.
“ hmm...what to do...what to do”
I’m having a hard time remembering what we did to get food before InstaCart and DoorDash. Just HOW did we manage to get food? Millions must have starved to death.

If you hire an independent contractor, is it your job to determine their citizenship?
I don’t see why not; your money should go to US citizens.
Get the welfare tourists and criminals first. They can always deport them after they get the rest.
yeah right how do you sort them out?
My youngest is 37. He was just recruited back to the Valvoline shop. All pay and benefits restored to where he was before taking a position at a rental company. The 40 minute drive to work was wearing him and his car out. Valvoline is an 8 minute drive to work. Better pay. Better benefits. Sometimes long days with lots of OT because of high demand for quality work. It's messier than working with all the laptops at the rental place, but still a good trade-off.
Have a look at Linked-In. There might be some leads there or make a post with interests and qualifications. It's a decent place to rub elbows with recruiters and professionals. Online applications are likely to be screened by AI. The application disappears rapidly.
Fixed it.
Free Republic is the most anti American worker anti tariff free trade website I go too. Sad what has happened to it.
No. We need wages to go up in the USA adding more imported labor only makes that worse. Virtue signal somewhere else.
A higher wage is a GREAT motivator.
Don't worry, they will be.
Because they do not exist.
My son had that problem when he returned from deployment in Iraq with the USMC. The fast food places would only hire bi-lingual (English/Spanish). It was also an "insiders" game to even be considered. Because he was bilingual and had a friend "inside", he had a shot. It was a Mexican food chain. The "insider" was a friend from high school.
I understand the frustration. I would try in-person visits to prospective places of employment. That might be followed up by a request to submit an application with someone prepared to process it. We have restaurants posting "hiring" signs all over town in Pocatello.
Follow up question: is she getting to interviews? I served as the ward employment specialist many years ago. A young lady with a degree in chemical engineering couldn't land a job. Many interviews, no bites. My boss at PacBell offered to do a "mock" interview with her. Afterward, we took her to lunch and debriefed her on where she was missing the boat. The following Sunday, I was dropped a note. The young lady was headed to the airport on a flight to Dallas to her new job.
A second case was a Swiss student at UCSD. I looked over his resume. His first language was German and his resume had phrases that didn't translate well to English. Use of "argued for" instead of "negotiated". A re-write of his resume resulted in a follow-up call with a new problem. He had 5 offers. He took the one in Redwood City where his skills in robotic vision were valued by a manufacturer.
Try reading comprehension lessons.
It’ll keep you from making inane responses to others posts by replying to something they did not say.
There wouldn’t be the need for being bilingual in Spanish if the illegals were gone.
This is America.
They can learn English, just like my adult, off the boat grandparents did.
When is the last time ICE drove in parking lot of a Home Depot? Easy picking.
