It’s hard to find workers. It really does seem like there are more jobs than people in this country.

My 21 year old daughter has applied to numerous entry level jobs. If she applies online, it is like a black hole. She does NOT take drugs. Has no tattoos, and can speak better than most at these jobs. The system is broken.

My 42 year old son has degrees in physics and business administration. He took a real estate license class and rather quickly parlayed that into being a real estate broker. He has licenses in 5 states. Despite all the credentials, it is still a tough market. He keeps food on the table by performing 5+ broker price opinions daily. He has closed a few listings lately. His mom is hoping he lands a few good ones to repay the $26,000 she forked over to put him in a reliable car. It doesn't hurt that he speaks fluent Spanish. Lately, he has been leveraging grok3 and ChapGPT to optimize his real estate work. In his spare time, he prefers nuclear physics. I'm not certain he can find good openings in that field right now.

My youngest is 37. He was just recruited back to the Valvoline shop. All pay and benefits restored to where he was before taking a position at a rental company. The 40 minute drive to work was wearing him and his car out. Valvoline is an 8 minute drive to work. Better pay. Better benefits. Sometimes long days with lots of OT because of high demand for quality work. It's messier than working with all the laptops at the rental place, but still a good trade-off.

Have a look at Linked-In. There might be some leads there or make a post with interests and qualifications. It's a decent place to rub elbows with recruiters and professionals. Online applications are likely to be screened by AI. The application disappears rapidly.

There’s something wrong. After Covid it’s hard to fill positions and because of it (whatever reason it is) we got a whole bunch working in my northeast US state from West Africa and I swear at least 2 of them cant know more than 5% english. These are the assylum seekers that Biden gave permission to work while they wait their case. A case that is normally decided before they are allowed to enter the country and they have workers permits.

Maybe most the Americans are working for Door Dash and Uber these days but they are certainly not working a typical fulltime job as we know it.

The Walmarts / Sam Clubs in this area in Maine are starting pay at between $18.50 to more than $21 / hour. Burger King has a sign “Now hiring teenagers 14 years and up” their starting pay is at least $16.50 per hour.

But who is working there? These so called migrants who think they will qualify for assylum from their west african home country after walking / riding thru Brazil thru Peru thru Ecuador, Colombia, Panama... until reaching the US border. That is not legal.

Whatever the problem is, I think Trump will fix it because it’s likely manipulated by the left during the Biden years. They probably told all the major corps to prioritize the hiring of so called “Migrants”.
