The other Bay Area freebie was MicroTimes. Also full of advertising. Back when you had plastic freebie newspaper stands advertising Novell NetWare certification on the side of the stand.
I'm a diehard still on Windows 7 too!
I keep W7 around for a few games.
I used to love that free mag
#6 I remember that telephone sized book of parts....
Add more storage. It’s dirt cheap and you will need it.
Also check out logicalincrements.com for a bunch of tested combinations at multiple price levels. They make it easy to pick parts that work and fit together.
Not claiming this to necessarily be true, but what I hear from a reliable source is that Windows 11 is not a good way to go. Unfortunately, it is the next Microsoft creation coming down the road as far as I know. I am using Windows 10 & hoping that in the future there may be an even newer Windows version that might meet more universal satisfaction. I’m sure most folks know that Microsoft has managed to create both satisfactory & unsatisfactory versions of their product. Previously, I was well satisfied with Windows 8.
Thanks to daniel1212 for the ping!
I’ll just use Computer Shopper................................oh, wait...............
can play a lot of games with linux mint on steam- pretty easy- they have a section where you can run things like proton and several others to make games work=- in just a few clicks
I am not a gamer so the onboard graphics in Intel and Amd are good enough for me and 90% of computer users. The best deal is ebay used Dell OptiPlex desktop or Dell latitude laptop. They are business class and bullet proof. Buy ones that are off lease from corporations. They are still in warranty
One such seller is Regency Technologies -— https://www.ebay.com/str/regencytechnologies?msockid=31ecd9cacef667eb2a84cc22cf7d6608

Haven’t read this yet but be aware you can build a lightening fast PC/CPU with a terabyte of storage, wireless, Bluetooth, TB Ethernet fast video PC IN A TINY Package almost paperback book size for $600.
Tiny. ;-)
Yep. Had a few years worth of issues, then I had to downsize for a move. I went through all the issues, ripping out the useful articles I wanted to keep, and ended up with a stack smaller that one of the issues.
I choose a utility truck over a tiny race car.
