A Florida man is recovering after being gored by a bison at Yellowstone National Park this week.
It seems like this is a lesson that people have to learn once or twice a year, every year. For some reason, people think these are calm, docile animals that can be approached. The truth is that they weigh almost as much as a car and can run surprisingly fast. They’re also wild animals and are famously unpredictable in their behavior.
A full grown bison could easily kill a human being, if they wanted to.
The Daily Caller has details:
Bison Gores Tourist At Yellowstone National Park
A bison gored a 47-year-old Florida tourist Sunday at Yellowstone National Park after the man approached the beast.
The tourist was treated by emergency medical personnel after sustaining minor injuries, Yellowstone authorities said in a press release.
The incident is subject to an ongoing investigation, but it remains the first case of a bison attacking a person in 2025. There are two such cases in 2024, and one in 2023.
“Always stay 25 yards away from bison,” Yellowstone park authorities said in the press release. Authorities advised people maintain a similar distance for all large animals and a 100 yard distance from wolves and bears.
“Bison will defend their space when threatened and have injured more people in Yellowstone than any other animal. They are unpredictable and can run three times faster than humans,” the press release said.
People reacted on Twitter/X:
Maybe the park just needs bigger warning signs, reminding people that you should avoid wild animals with horns that weigh thousands of pounds.
Florida Man in Yellowstone, First goring of the season!..............We’re #1!!!....................
Florida Man Ping!....................
‘Lookie! It’s like a big gator but with legs and fur’..
Sounds like he wasn’t gored enough!
We’ve all been “gored” by the “climate change as a crisis” hoax.
“A full grown bison could easily kill a human being, if they wanted to.”
Florida Man knows that......NOW. SMH
At Jasper, where the animals are very used to the people, I’ve seen people get a carlengths from them to get a good picture.
“Stupid is supposed to hurt.”

OFFICIAL RULING- ZERO POINTS FOR FLORIDA!, Petting out of season!
Coup de gras: he should be arrested for provoking an animal in the park. Being an idiot should hurt.
Wow Florida man goes all the way to Wyoming and still can’t catch a break
They are wild animals. I once found myself in the middle of a semi-tamed heard of buffalo, but I remained in the safety of the cab of a pickup truck. Somewhere I have a picture of the herd grazing on a hillside in Wyoming. They were being sort of kept by a rancher who was using them for slaughter.
A buffalo cannot be held in a slaughterhouse. He (or she, the cows are almost as aggressive as the bulls) will demolish the holding pen, the walls of the butcher shop, and level the entire building.
Best way to harvest a buffalo is to have a flat bed truck, with a winch and tilt bed, park about a quarter mile away from the buffalo, and drop it with a heart shot from a 30-06 scoped rifle. The reason you are a quarter mile away is to get a head start if the buffalo is only wounded.
It will be angry.
Florida Man, and it isn’t even Florida!
We’re taking Florida Man on the road!
Being used to people doesn’t really matter. There are people who have buffalo ranches. They are much more dangerous than cattle.
Tourists sometimes try to get closer to bison in Yellowstone for the sake of better pictures.
Back in 2010, my nephew had a job at Yellowstone. He was on a special team that transported wounded or deceased tourists from inaccessible back country areas. They had lots of business, although most of the really stupid injuries took place in vehicle-accessible areas. Carrying an injured hiker on a stretcher down narrow mountain trails was a lot of work.
What percentage of stupid deaths are caused by trying to get a selfie?
All the videos of people handling dangerous wild animals stressing how human and grateful these animals are makes them all seem like just furry or scaled humans. Even little animals can cause a life-threatening infection. Bigger animals can ruin your life faster than you can react.
People are too far from the farm or danger in any form. That makes people stupid beyond belief.
