Or at least, some members wanted to deal with the latter before the former.

It has been said politics is a blood sport, imagine a football game where the plays were open for group discussion even after the quarterback called what the coach sent in. Not many would pay to watch.

The GOP, folks.

They ran for YEARS on the promise to remove and replace Obamacare. Then when they had the chance to do it, they said 'we lied, deal with it' and moved on.

They ran for DECADES on the promise to make government smaller and now they have the chance they are saying 'don't even put it up for a vote, we don't want to go on the record again that it was all lies'.

It would be a bad day in the Republic when they prove Ayn Rand right once and for all.

Getting to the point my gamma radiation accident is going to turn me green.

My doctor is sending me for a PET/CT scan. The stuff they inject via IV is a gamma radiation emitting labeled sugar that concentrates in cells with high sugar uptake e.g. cancer cells. The gamma emissions annihilate an electron resulting in a positron emission. The CT is done concurrently to ensure spatial integrity of the detected positron emissions. Hoping I don't turn green or Stage IV when it's over.

This will give Massie and Paul another reason to vote against final bill. That would delay or sink tax cuts.

Massie is more notable for what he voted against than for what he sponsored or cosponsored. IOW no solutions just objections.

He has never sponsored a bill that was signed into law.

Of the 18 bills he cosponsored (as one of large #’s of co-sponsors), eight were submitted by a democrat. None of the 18 successful bills cosponsored by Massie relate to fiscal responsibility.

One of the games the GOP plays is they ask us to vote for them to increase their numbers so they can get things done. That never happens, of course. The only thing we get in return for the votes is more excuses, deception and dissembling.

If they won’t vote on it (yet), it means they don’t have the votes to pass it (yet). The question is whether there is any chance of assembling a majority in both the House and Senate.

What we don’t know is how many Members aren’t on board and the nature and size of the tweaks that would be needed to bring them along.

We have some nutcases — more now in the House than the Senate — who seem to be perfectly happy to blow up the bill over their pet hobby horses.

And in some cases, this seems tied up in their addiction to prancing in front of the tv cameras and demonstrating their importance — as in, “I’m important, the way Samson was important. I’d rather blow up the caucus and ultimately force a deal with the democrats ... while would let me rant more about my ritual purity vs. all the sellouts who actually thought Republicans need to pass something.”

If too many people play scorched earth, my way or the highway politics, we will squander our chance. So it all becomes a game of brinksmanship.

Some people seem to be happier in the minority, where they can preen about their ritual purity rather than actually having to take responsibility for something. They are drunk on ego. Reagan was right about the person who agrees with me 90 percent of the time being an ally, not an enemy.

They’ll get “Fetterman’ed” pretty soon. There’s only so much common sense to go around in DC.

Sending billion of U.S. Taxpayer dollars to thieves, criminal and crooks in Afrika and other failed Marxist sewers. This is what the misinformed MAGA voters wanted Trump to do.

I'd rather delay a vote and perhaps win it down the line than hold it now if you already know you would lose.

Political capital is limited, and I'm pretty sure Johnson's priority is getting through the Big Beautiful Bill.

“I wonder why they wont vote on it? Anyone?

Rand Paul is outraged. He reposted Massie’s tweet and demanded a vote NOW...”

___________________________________________________________

Because nobody in Congress has seen anything like actionable evidence throughout the DOGE process, and the vote to turn them into statutory law are now opposed by a majority of Congress.

Yes, they’d prefer to be in the minority. That way they can run on promises that they know can never pass because they’re the minority. Once they win, THEN they have to do something, and suddenly progress in DC grinds to a halt.

There may not be any authority for that quote, but I would like to see what you have.

Here is the suggested origin of the quote, later attributed to Disraeli, and it supports my post:
“Laws, like sausages, cease to inspire respect in proportion as we know how they are made.” - American lawyer-poet John Godfrey Saxe, 1869
