Rubio rising

With four hats, including national security adviser, the former Trump rival is defying predictions he’d be a weak player.

Marco Rubio is doing big things under President Donald Trump — way more than nearly anyone expected.

The secretary of State was once thought of as one of the weakest players in the Trump orbit, a man who wouldn’t last long in the Cabinet because he faced many internal rivals and had major policy differences with Trump and the MAGA base.

But Rubio has deftly earned the president’s trust, enough so that Trump this week gave him another powerful job as interim national security adviser, replacing the ousted Mike Waltz. Some Trump advisers are interested in making the arrangement permanent, as POLITICO first reported.

Vivek will NEVER be President. I like the guy. He is smart and focused. But he needs to stop coming across like a Tony Robbin’s clone if he ever wants to get higher office. It will be interesting to see how he does in OH.

JD and Marco will probably fight it out for a while. Marco will move to the center faster and will pick up the growing Hispanic vote. JD would really need to “run the table” and that is difficult.

It’s WAY too early to make too many predictions. We have a long way to go to the mid-terms. Nothing will fall into place before those are done.

Very true. Rubio is like an ultra polished prosecutor or defense attorney making the case for Trump’s agenda.

I don’t care how Vivek comes across. We need him as President in 2028 to extend and EXPAND MAGA. Who besides RINO’s and/or watered-down politicians are there?

Vivek’s the ONLY pubic figure who proposes DISMANTLING significant portions of the mostly unconstitutional federal gov’t. Dismantling the 80%+, $3 trillion unconstitutional portion of the otherwise out-of-control federal gov’t is ESSENTIAL for America’s recovery of her Free Constitutional Republic.

Vivek needs to return to DOGE since Musk is leaving and continue to downsize and dismantle the federal gov’t. LOTS yet still to be done. “We have not yet begun to fight.”

Notice, the ONE thing that Leftist cannot abide is what Musk was doing with DOGE. Notice how quiet the Left has been since Musk announced his exit.

When will patriots and the Right understand that the GREATEST threat to our lives, liberties, and well being is the unconstitutional portion of the federal gov’t which MUST be dismantled?

I’d urge a different sort of caution.

1) Rubio has not only been on the MAGA side, but IN FRONT of most of this, slapping down Green Screen Zelensky, telling the Euros to shove it, explaining that this ain’t the pro-war GOP anymore.
2) His consistency and skill have led Trump to trust him. Translation: if you want to advance in Trumpworld, be MAGA, be out front, and never screw him.
3) I think there is a major element of this that Trump had ALREADY PLANNED, namely the continued consolidation of government, terminating various offices and positions, etc. I think part of the NSA role Rubio was handed is in line with Trump’s original realignment to get rid of that position and fold it in with SoS. I do look for someone else to be “archivist.” (I might raise my hand at that position, though the only job in D.C. I really want is on Trump’s Library Committee, and I think I could really be of help there).

Naw, Rubio has been put in charge of what is basically a couple of unneeded eliminated positions.

No big deal.

Out of politics for sure. Government is a slightly different matter, but you can make a case for your point that most should be dismissed if they have any political history.

RFK for example, none. He has a political name, but no years in Washington. Never has held elected office. This qualified him for almost anything in the Administration.

Drain the Swamp. Always, no exceptions, Always the #1 goal. The Swamp created the $37T in debt. No one with over 6-8 years in elected office is excused.

The people qualified for Trump positions are people you’ve never heard of.

Vivek, though a U.S. citizen, is a non-natural Born citizen, thus ineligible.

Did you hear him embarrassingly reveal himself, his incomplete grasp of U.S. culture and psyche, during his final few days of involvement with DOGE?

This kind of problem is and continues to be enough to deny by category the office of POTUS to all those who were steeped in any amount of foreign spice at birth.

Name a better on-the-spot, in the spotlight, in the moment, no notes, no TelePrompTer, while being challenged live on camera by the worst demonic Trump-hating harpies, defender of Trump and his policies?

Who’s doing it better, right now?

Rubio ineligible due to non-U.S. citizen parentage.

Steeped in foreign spice at birth.

Summary on Vivek’s status as a natural born citizen (NBC):

NBC is a legal issue. Vivek Ramaswamy was born on August 8, 1985 in Cincinnati, Ohio to parents who were in the U.S. legally but not U.S. citizens. The U.S. Supreme Court (SC) has ruled that someone who is born on U.S. soil is an NBC if at the time of his birth, his parents were in the U.S. legally but not U.S. citizens. Therefore, according to the mandatory legal authority of sound constitutionally-based SC ruling and precedent, Vivek is an NBC.

Detailed argument

Since around 1900, (SC) rulings have become less and less valid because SC has gradually moved away from basing their decisions on the Constitution as written and originally understood and intended. But their ruling on NBC appear to be based on sound application of the Constitution.

In Perkins v. Elg, 99 F. 2d 408, Court of Appeals, Dist. of Columbia Circuit 1938, the Court of Appeals noted as part of the basis for their decision that...

In United States v. Wong Kim Ark, 169 U.S. 649, 18 S. Ct. 456, 42 L. Ed. 890, 1898 [the Court found that] [W]hen the Constitution was adopted, the people of the United States were the citizens of the several States for whom and for whose posterity the government was established. Each of them was a citizen of the United States at the adoption of the Constitution, and all free persons thereafter born within one of the several States became by birth citizens of the State and of the United States.

It appears the Court of Appeals in Elg (1939) agrees with Ark (1898) decison.

(Both Marie Elizabeth Elg and Wong Kim Ark were born on U.S. soil to parents who were here legally but not U.S. citizens. )

Again, the Constitution is properly applied as written and ORIGINALLY UNDERSTOOD and intended. What matters is what the ratifiers of the Constitution considered an NBC was. The Supreme Court decisions based on the good-faith and sound finding of original understanding of NBC in the Constitution is, therefore, legal precedent concerning NBC. Thus, Vivek should be considered an NBC.

Some argue that the term "NBC" is not specifically used in Ark or Elg, but these cases revolve around citizenship based on birth on U.S. soil, which is exactly what NBC is. An NBC is a citizen automatically because he was born on U.S. soil. He is “naturally” and automatically a citizen needing no further processing to become a U.S. citizen. He becomes a citizen under “natural” (birth) circumstances, exactly as Elg, Ark, and now Vivek.

I foresee a spirited primary among Vance, Rubio and DeSantis.

With three very different strengths, political, rhetorical, and administrative, respectively.

See if anyone wants to respond about this natural born citizenship debate. The subject comes up a lot on Free Republic. And there’s no consensus here on that.

As a practical matter, Rubio was a candidatein the 2016 primaries, and there was no controlling legal authority to prevent him from running. So there’s that.

I know some people say that both of your parents must have been American citizens, when you were born , for you to be natural born. But not everyone agrees on that. So there’s that.

But not everyone agrees on that.

Very true.

I would love to see a Constitutional Amendment which explicitly settles the matter with a completion definition and with a re-iteration that the president must be a NBC as defined in the Amendment, and that all federal judges must also be NBC. Also members of House and Senate.

I would love clarity also. As I understand it, our laws do not explicitly define what a natural born citizen is.

As a practical matter, we have now had both a president, Obama, and a vice president, Kamala, who were not natural born citizens according to the strictest definitions that people want to go by.

I expect this will come up again often in the future, because there has been so much immigration to the US in recent decades. There will be many first and second generation immigrants running for political office.

I still remember anti-Rubio posts here decade ago, mainly because Rubio wanted to give amnesty to children brought to United States by their illegal parents.

SCOTUS has never defined the Constitutional term “natural Born citizen”.

When it does, many (not This Guy) will be surprised at who does not meet said definition.
