A Kentucky man won the Powerball lottery in his home state and then went to Florida to celebrate, which allegedly got a bit out of hand.
James Farthing, 50, won the Kentucky Powerball on April 26 after playing a $2 ticket along with his mother, Linda Grizzle. But just days later, on Monday, Farthing and his girlfriend, 42-year-old Jacqueline Fightmaster, were at a TradeWinds Resort in St. Pete Beach, Florida, and allegedly got into a physical altercation with another guest at the bar.
According to an arrest affidavit reviewed by Law&Crime, Pinellas County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to break up the fight — and one deputy was allegedly kicked in the face by Farthing.
Both Farthing and Fightmaster were arrested during the alleged brawl, but Fightmaster only ended up being charged with misdemeanor disorderly intoxication. Fightmaster’s affidavit stated that she was allegedly “trying to fight the other patrons at the bar” while “yelling, screaming, and making incoherent statements.”
Farthing, however, was charged with a battery on a law enforcement officer, a felony. According to his arresting affidavit, Farthing allegedly kicked Deputy Nicholas Areostatico in the face, “striking [his] right cheek.”
The deputy also wrote in the affidavit that Farthing “refused to comply” with police instructions while being arrested. Farthing was also charged with misdemeanor battery against the bar patron he was allegedly fighting.
Fightmaster posted bond and was released from the Pinellas County Jail. Farthing remains in custody due to a parole violation on a past charge in Kentucky.

Thank you very much and God bless you.
Now if only OJ would have stayed home and count his money.
Nuh-uhhhh. All those names are fake.
Honorary Florida Man.
Lottery curse started early. They don’t stand a chance of being a lottery success story🤪
At least he already has the prison tats.
Always be prepared!
He’s got money now - the system’s going to milk it back out of him...
Ya give people like these folks big money and soon it’s like watching an episode of Hee Haw but they’re all drunk and violent. Instant wealth and he’s sitting in a cage. What a dumb cluck.

He has all the opportunities to set himself up for a lifetime as a wealthy independent member of people with money.
However, he will probably squander it all in few years, ending up with nothing.
That is what happens with most big lottery winners. There are a couple of exceptions, of course.
Fentanyl overdose in his future.
Most people don’t like to think about money.
I remember when Wilma Mankiller was Chief of the Cherokee Nation.
Two comments.
1. You reap what you sow
2. Someone’s last name is actually fightmaster?
And the QB for the Washington Huskies in the early 70s, Sonny Sixkiller.
Money don’t buy class.
P.S. The jurisdictions incarcerating him can charge him for reimbursement of his jail costs. It’s just rarely done because most inmates don’t have any money.

If I won that much money the first thing I would do is buy a place where I could fire a .50 BMG out any window of my house without worrying the neighbors.
I buy the occasional ticket, they make great bookmarks.
My boss once said that the lottery was a tax on folks bad at math. I told him that at odds of 200 million to 1, it was still a better chance of getting rich than working for him.
My brother in law said lotto winners always went broke. I told him it was because they gave money to their relatives and I wouldn’t make that mistake.
What a shame, he got arrested before he could lose a briefcase of money buying cocaine and an alligator in a Florida strip club parking lot.
I think I remember the story but not fully...Pretty epic.
