NAEP test scores for America’s most vulnerable students have collapsed — and the timeline tells the story mainstream media won’t: the “Great Awokening” is failing the very kids it claimed it was trying to help.

I’m sure the teacher’s unions will have something interesting to say about this.
Kids are a lot less white than used to be nowadays
Parents who Truly Hate Their Children send them to Public Schools.
Anytime you have unions, Democrats, government, all
working together you get shit.
Our kids deserve better.
I grew up in public schools before they deteriorated so much,
As I got older, I switched to private schools as public ones were so political and obnoxious.
Yes, poor kids are getting cheated.
Tough for them, Their parents voted for it!
less white as opposed to less wong?
One of America's biggest mistakes was handing over the education of its young to the tender mercies of the state. If you have Soviet Style education you are going to get Soviet style results. Seperation of School and State is an idea whose time has come.
There should be consequences for the school officials that forced marxism and woke agenda on the children.
Teachers will say “we need more money”!!
I had the joy of teaching Middle School math for a few years. I had amazing math teachers myself, and passed it on to the students.
Yes, Middle School age children are, basically, aliens. Some are 4 feet tall, a few are 6’5”. And every height in between. When the hormones start up, they are hilarious.
I loved it.
Sometimes, the textbooks were, well, ridiculous. I would show them how I learned to make it simple. Tried and true methods since, oh, I don’t know, Pythagoras.
One time, the students asked “why don’t other teachers teach this way.” I took advantage of such times as teachable moments. I would say something close to “you cannot control what others do, only what you do.” (I knew that there were many good teachers, and others who just “used the textbook.”)
I also loved teaching the children that had been told that they could not learn. I knew that if given the chance, almost any child can learn. One on one instruction. You start by determining what the child already knows, and build on that. After a few weeks of progress, you begin to witness the light in their eyes. The realization that they can learn more.
PS - Hillsdale College is bringing the lantern of truth, reason, common sense, and the American Founding to the Left Coast. In Placer County, Kalifornia, they are establishing a Hillsdale College. Hope Springs Eternal
It is not a failure. It is a steady measure of success. The students will be loyal minions and slaves on the Democratic plantation.
Critical thinkers would never tolerate the Big Lie. They’d see Marxism for what it is: a tool for authoritarians to seize power and install a dictatorship.
Message from the Marxist elite to the masses: ‘Welcome back to the plantation, slaves.’
It’s hard to educate someone with an 75 IQ that has no impulse control, can’t speak the language and is prone to violence. You have to beat them to make them pay attention.
Thank you for your post. I worked over 26 years as an engineer but also was able to teach in high school for 12 years. The union rules made for difficult teaching but these were enjoyable years. Layoffs governed by seniority sent me back to my engineering career.
School choice may help the school system but good teachers must be in the classrooms or it will not matter what school you choose.
They will....we need mo’money!
We’ve witnessed the slow death of education for at least 50 yrs now.
Their parents are trapped in it and don't know how to get out. For some very strange reason they can't be convinced to not vote for democrats. No one is as blind as those who refuse to see.
Grok3 didn't have good demographics or academics for 1973. I attended the school. There were 3 black students not 20% as grok guessed from national averages. Under 1% Asian. Roughly 2% latino. The balance was white. Much better academically than grok guessed from national averages. The FRL term grok uses is Free/Reduced cost Lunch. There was little or no feeding programs in the 1973 time frame.
Every year they trot out the academic disparity figures for black vs white students. They demand more money to "fix it". They get the money and produce no improvement. Lather, rinse, repeat for the last 50 years.
To summarize, everything the left does and tried too implement is the exact opposite of right.
